OK, this is kind of a "what do we do with this" thread.

Basically, Seen It A Million Times is a Predefined Messages page. These pages are being namespaced to Administrivia/, but this page in particular seems to be a hybrid trope trope/predefined message page judging by the way it's being used in trope pages, and I don't know for sure whether these ought to be put in Administrivia/ as well - the thread above linked wasn't very clear and is dead now.

So I would like to ask the Repair Shop whether this page should be namespaced, or changed in some other way or left alone. Opinions?

I would say:

  1. Namespace it To Administrivia
  2. Make it only a Predefined Message
  3. Limit it to use in YKTTW; make it clear that it's not to be used as 1) a general example on trope pages or 2) to mean "It's really common" in trope descriptions.
  4. Clear out wicks that use it as a Stock Phrase Trope, or as either of 1) or 2) in the previous point.

Seems like a reasonable fix proposal. Anyone else?

I also support Maddy's proposal.

I agree, only YKTTW and the repair forums should be using it.

How much additional discussion before implementation? Single-prop crowner?

So is there an assumption/immediate decision that the trope part of the "hybrid trope/predefined message" isn't worth keeping?

Yes. "This happens quite frequently" is a poor basis for a Trope Trope.

Madrugada's proposal is sound. Make it so.

Bumping. I am good to go for the implementation, but it needs a description rewrite and I currently don't have one.

OK, let me try to write a description for the new page:

Sometimes, a troper starting a YKTTW thinks they know examples of a trope, but just can't remember any specific examples to add, thus leaving the YKTTW exampleless at the beginning.

Mostentimes, it just means that the YKTTW needs examples added. Sometimes, it's a sign that we are dealing with one of the Omnipresent Tropes.

Please use this page only in the context of YKTTW, not as a reference to frequently used tropes.

Comments?

Any more input, or can we go ahead?
