I find Red Hood's outfit in the DLC kinda weak, especially compared to the one he had right after dropping the Arkham Knight persona, could've just slapped a coat on top of it and voila. Makes the one in the DLC look amateur-ish.

Do you actually want the comics to publish a real, definitive, "no more stories ever" ending for superheroes?

well, think about how the lack of a definitive ending hurts the stories not just for Batman, but for almost every superhero under dc and marvel.

- i'm not sure if saying that comics are in "constant change" is accurate, because any death or major change very rarely has any true impact on anything because editorial will just reverse the changes a few years down the line at most.

- as a consequence of the former, character development and growing up CAN happen, but often doesn't. Peter Parker still acts like and approaches his problems with the mentality of a teenager, Batman's age gets continually pushed back and him raising like 4 robins gets harder and harder to reconcile, etc.

obviously i don't necessarily want DC or Marvel to stop publishing Batman or Spider-Man comics, but there has to be a better way (not that they'd ever take it, it's too ingrained into how the companies work).

@Ghilz

  • Don't think of it as the Batmobile. Think of it as a pilotable Bat-Wrecking Ball.
  • Everyone hates the drill tank. There's at least the fact that if you make it through a tunnel once, it saves a checkpoint.
  • You might also raise the question of how he got an army of perfect bat-killers, a bunch of armoured drones, a super-tank that you need to shoot with close range precision before the armour comes even close to getting dented by your shots, all those barricades... Where did Arkham Knight get the funds? Even after the character reveal, I still don't know.

[up] for your third point, it's mentioned in dialogue you can hear from the Milita that Lex Luthor may have been pushing funds their way, as well as the other Bat villains chipping in. The Milita was fairly established, but the drones etc seem to be fairly recent additions with the new influx of funds.

The fact you can find a voicemail from Lex saying how he wants to buy the applied science division would indicate he wants to clear Gotham for a Lexcorp takeover.

I rather like the Batmobile, now I've got a hang of anticipating the corners and understanding the drift. It's when you get stuck on building corners that usually smash, or the "kill cam" focuses on a knocked over vehicle that you can get stuck.

Also, has there ever been a story in the comics or DCAU where they do a "Commander Sisko"-like mental hospital thing? Where Batman is actually the villain who THINKS he's a vigilante? I had it in my head today - the Joker is actually a cop with an Ironic Nickname who has a stable, normal relationship with the person trying to treat their constantly escaping patient.

Two face is the prosecutor trying to pin him down and wipe away what he sees as a foolish "insanity" defense plea; the "Penguin" is a legitimate businessman just trying to get by. Gordon is just a hobo who "Batman" meets by a brazier and they have weird rambling conversations.

More of a comedy web series probably, but I swear I've seen a comic that does that...

The voicemail definitely doesn't sound like Clancy Brown. That voice sounds quite off, its like they couldn't decide how Lex should sound like so they went for unctous, sinister and zesty at the same time, just that people get "Definitely not a good guy" vibes from that.

[up] There is PERCHANCE TO DREAM, that is right up your alley. That alternate interpretation, the Its All A Dream has been done, like Buffy the vampire slayer did an episode where they reimagined her as this lunatic who dreamed up her other life and the whole point is that can be applied to any story. Harry Potter is really a depressed and abused kid who reimagines his life at a bad school as a magic school where he's the main hero, Peter Parker got skin disease and early cancer after being bitten by a radioactive spider and reimagines his fantasy life as his family struggle to pay for expensive chemotherapy and his Uncle commits suicide so that the Life Insurance money can be used to pay for his treatment. You can do any kind of depressive decoding of these stories. That's what they are stories. You can also do this to any classic myth or religion, ultimately you have to take it literally to accept them on any level.

Man I cannot figure out this Riddler trophy for the life of me. It's one where there's a bunch of targets you have to shoot in a limited time with the batmobile and I always run out of time. It seems impossible :[

teolant Since: Nov, 2014

[up] I know the one. You need to get two bars of charge for the Batmobile's missiles, and, when you get to the end, mash the missile button while trying to get four targets locked as quick as possible and shoot the rest ( hint; just hold the fire button down for the Batmobile's cannon/gun and it'll shoot as soon as your target is over one of the question marks. Note; this doesn't work for the missiles, you actually need to tap that button ). If you have less than two bars of charge, you need to drive around, taking out the randomly spawning vehicles to build it back up again.

If I recall correctly, that one actually has a winch spot nearby that fills the Batmobile's battery meter automatically, so you don't have to grind for the meter to use the missiles.

I, on the other hand, cannot figure out a trophy with a similar winch spot on... Bleake Island, I think? This one is underground, with a force field above it, blocking access to three targets. You can deactivate the field with the EMP, but it also deactivates the targets... I've only been able to hit one of them with a Controlled Batarang... But I can't figure out any way to hit the other two. The puzzle resets if you use the EMP again, and Batman himself can't stay above the field either: The field and switches just will not reset 'til he lands.

It's been driving me mildly mad.

[up][up][up][[strike]]I just did that one. If you haven't destroyed the militia bomb nearby that's a really good way to get the missile charge ready.[[/strike]][nja]Or maybe that's not the best way.

[up]x9 I wasn't thrilled with the depiction of Luthor. He shouldn't sound so obviously villainous.

Was pretty happy that it was put in at all though. I also like the Lexcorp buildings and ads.

Well this is the Arkhamverse where Permadeath sticks. The main reason they didn't show what happened to Sionis is simply because the developers didn't think he was important enough to render his post-death for a Pre-Order DLC.

Wow... That was way more interesting than half of Arkham Knight's plotlines.

Now I'm imagining the entire game series as Bruce's odd antics. Insisting that no one has died from him. Frequently putting explosive gel on EVERYTHING for no stated reason. throwing (remote control) batarangs for no real purpose (because what player don't use them to scope out the room???). Solving Riddler Puzzles while Batman really should be rushing to save some poor sap.

Taking every gameplay mechanic and subsequent player thought process to the most absurd degree.

You know one thing DC should really do. They should do a kind of Ultimate Batman comic, where Batman isn't rich. You know, his parents are middle-class and lower-middle class (they're both academics or Thomas is a Doctor and Martha is his nurse/secretary) and they get mugged outside a movie theatre (one thing that bothers me, why would two rich wealthy people go see a movie in the poor side of town for a night out with no security whatsoever?). Then he gets taken in by Alfred who is his godfather.

It would be fascinating what a writer can if they take that one part of Batman/Bruce but keep everything else. Would a middle-class Bruce have the same Patrician sense of owning Gotham as the WASP Prince of Gotham does? What kind of Batman would he be?

Because the problem is Batman's wealth becomes a huge problem in taking him seriously, its an anachronism. The Waynes are at best the Rockefellers or Guggenheims of the 30s, vast estates and clubhouses. Today's emblematic billionaires are IT types and investors, and very few of them have that Patrician noblesse oblige image that the old tycoons cultivated and which the Waynes have.

I find I am very unimaginative with predator rooms - inverted takedowns, grate takedowns then a final punch up with the last man standing.

That said, with the Harvey Dent mission, I did make use of the escalators, chandeliers and other environmental aspects.

Plus I LOVE the fear multi takedown SO MUCH.

Done the professor Pyg mission. Nope. Nope. NOPENOPENOPE.

And Azrael - that was... interesting. Was expecting a different twist there as in, he becomes the Jack Marston for post game collection or something

And the Founder's Island bombs... JESUS they're horrible. SO MANY frikking drones. They actually BEAT me. I was surprised. It's the ruddy Moa drones with the missiles. Can't seem t otake them down fast enough.

[up]Armour. I normally save armour for my final purchases, but if you want to beat the bomb missions, you can't have too much armour. Also recommended are the upgrades that protect your special meter, and grant the second dodge.

Batman has shown us that you can resist blood poisoning if you're scary enough.

I personally figured Lex was putting that voice on a little to try to intimidate Bruce with a thinly veiled threat under the transparent veneer of a Faux Affably Evil veneer. I hope they get a different voice for him if he comes back in any inevitable follow up to this game, however. Luthor needs to be many things at once.

EDIT: I did all the Side Missions and beat the game on Hard without ever upgrading any health. I sometimes wondered if it was worth my humiliation at times.

Killer Moth was the Arkham Knight. And Scarecrow. And Joker. All at once.

Well, we know he can breathe in space, so a minor case of CJD (Did they go with that because it has a J in the acronym?) won't stop him.

He became the Midnighter in that bit though. And that guy fought off AIDS in a week.
