Didn't we agree a month ago to change the name of the trope to Shangri-La?

EDIT: Except that now I see Shangri-La is a redirect to some Japanese thing. The Shangri-La, then.

Bueller...Bueller...

I would do it, but I don't have moderating powers. Change trope name to The Shangri-La, code in a dash to render "Shangri-La", good to go, this topic can be closed.
Another vote for rename.

Support for rename.

I think I already voted for a rename, but I'll reiterate it in any case.

I think we have enough consensus now for a rename. Shangri-La or The Shangri-La? Personally, I think that a namespace collision is tolerable in this case.
Agree with collision. (If someone is linking Shangri-La, they probably don't mean the work)

I'd prefer The Shangri-La, just to make it clear that the trope doesn't require for the utopian valley to be actually named Shangri-La.

[up][up]Agree about adding "The" and why.

Zzzzzzzzzz
Valid, though. In general, we do tend to name type tropes "'The' Whatever", if "Whatever" is a proper noun.

The Shangri-La sounds good.
[tup] from me for The Shangri-La

Seems like there is agreement on renaming this to The Shangri-La, but I'll wait for some more time/opinions.
Renaming sounds like the way to go.
Rhymes with "Protracted."

Tallying up the votes:
  • Shangri-La: jamespolk, Doctorvon Eurotrash, Star Sword, crazysamaritan.
  • The Shangri-La: Madrugada, jamespolk, Doctorvon Eurotrash, Star Sword, Catbert, tryrar, somerandomdude, the Adeptrogue.
  • Keep current:
  • Rename, no clear preference: Karjam P, Carnildo, troacctid.

Striked out are people who changed their mind.

Seems like there is agreement here on The Shangri-La.
Hey, how come Star Sword gets two votes? ;)

Looks like consensus is firmly against me. :)

We seem to have a pretty strong preference. Does someone need to make a crowner or something?

Bumping for a last confirmation that The Shangri-La is going to be the name.

Go ahead and change it. If you find any sham versions cleaning the wicks, make a list here and we'll see if there's enough commonality for a trope about a false one.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
