I love the visuals of the 19th century (?) part of the movie, and Russell Crowe looks like a lot of fun in this character. The romance plotline looks fairly boring, but all else looks pretty interesting.
By the way, I didn't see Smithcifer anywhere.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Agreed. Russell Crowe probably had some fun doing his role. As for Smith, Wikipedia had him listed as Lucifer, while IMDb had him listed as "Judge". They probably didn't put him in the trailers in order to not hurt their box-office chances.
That actually looks rather interesting, more so than I had expected.
Who is the actor playing the character flipping a coin at about 1:21 in the first trailer? He looks a little like Denzel Washington there, but I only catch a glimpse of him, and the angle isn't wonderful.

My Games & WritingWant to elaborate on that? Smith is one of the few bonafide box office draws.
Looks like I was wrong, after doing some research. Man, how come people keep wanting to see him despite stuff like After Earth (which, for some reason, had good profits)?
I was under the impression that big box-office names were going out of fashion (a la Tom Cruise). That's why I assumed Will Smith wasn't featured prominently in the movie.

Most people blamed After Earth on M. Night, not knowing that Will Smith came up with the idea for it. Therefore, his star power is mostly untouched.
Other thing was, even when it was Will Smith's brain child, it was also a vehicle for Jaden, so his son ironically enough got most of the backlash for that movie too.
As for why they haven't mentioned Will in the trailer? My guess is since he's playing a minor supporting role they don't want to risk people giving the movie negative Word of Mouth because he isn't in it enough.

Doesn't matter. It's 6% on RT anyway.
Looking for some stories?I suspect I will check it out, but mostly for Matt Bomer...I think his role is very minor, too, but I never get enough of his acting. And I guess this time around she will get some meaty stuff to deliver.
According to Brad Jones (warning, spoilers), Will Smith is Lucifer and he wears a Jimi Hendrix shirt. In 1915.
Has anyone seen this movie? Cause I'm curious to see the hilarious mess that it is.

If it really is the epic WTF fest that Brad makes it out to be, then I'll set aside some time to watch it online.
Looking for some stories? It's actually 1914, but whatever. He's also reading A Brief History of Time in that scene. And the movie isn't that bad. It's about low to average in quality and worth seeing once if it's on the television.
(V)(;,,;)(V)Kyle Kallgren of Brows Held High had this to say about that twist:
"In West Pandemonium, Lord be praised, young Lucifer was working out most of his days, chilling while the Maker made Adam and Eve. Luc saw the Lord's creation and he got kinda peeved, so he gatherered an army. He was up to no good, making all this trouble in the angel's hood. He started one little rebellion and God declared, "You are banished now to Hell, thou Prince of Despair!"

It's been so long since I read the book. Was the whole thing with Lucifer in it or was that added to the movie?
Saw it today.
Ok it's not as hilarious or a mess as Brad Jones thought it was. It had its (unintentional) funny moments, but it also had heartbreaking/tear jerker-y moments.
I liked Colin Farrell's performance. He was good in this. The girl playing Beverly is gorgeous. The story has a few plot holes/headscratching moments, but it doesn't distract you from the movie.
The funny parts are mostly Russell Crowe's fake Irish accent, and Will Smith as Lucifer. Who wears a Hendrix shirt. In 1914. He also says the word "Denied".
The music was alright (it's nice to hear a Hans Zimmer score that doesn't feature the "BWOOOOOONG!"), in spite of the evil demon's music stinger.
It was ok. It's good for a night with stars (recurring motif), at home, with a couple of blankets on. Bonus points if you have a girlfriend/boyfriend beside you (though the movie probably should have been released before New Year's Eve).
Also, cool horse! His interventions were certainly...miraculous.
And remember folks: the demons control and regulate the financial/banking systems.

There was nothing about the devil in the book. I'm thinking that the film has very little to do with the book at all based on the film's summary on IMDB (reincarnation, Pearly straight up talks to the devil, whaaaat?).
There's a movie that's gonna premiere this Valentine's day which is an adaptation of a novel of the same name (not to be confused with the Shakespeare work).
The interesting point is that it's a Valentine's Day movie masquerading as a supernatural drama movie.
We've got Colin Farrell (as a thief anemd Peter Lake) and some chick (as Beverly Penn), Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly (who are also Noah and his wife in the movie of the same name), Will Smith as Lucifer!, and the woman who starred opposite Brando in On the Waterfront.
It's directed by the writer of A Beautiful Mind and Cinderella Man.
Trailer.
So, what do you guys think? It looks interesting (apart from Will Smith as Lucifer, which will probably be funny)...
