Proper Lady had an IP thread, but it was decided it's to be imageless until a better pic is found (for reference: the old "Proper Lady" IP thred). I really like a few images in that thread and I was surprised they were not chosen...

I have a new suggestion. This painting by Percy Tarrant shows a young woman dressed in pink with a Parasol of Prettiness. She's in a garden and taking care of two children.

Would that be good enough? :-) I also found other images I'd like for Proper Lady, mostly of ladies engaged in some feminine activities like picking up flowers, but I like this one best.

It seems illustrative enough.

1 > 4.2 > 4.1, although I'm not exactly keen on any of them...might be as close as we can come, though, given the complexity of the definition.

That, and the diverseness of the sub- and sister-tropes, which contain their own images.

I love the look of 4.2. Are there any suggestions from a fictional story and not just art?

Lady Marjorie from Upstairs, Downstairs perhaps? Though I can't recall if there was an ep with a good "Proper Lady" scene in it...

OP's suggestion is my favorite so far by a fair amount.

Unique style so it feels like it adds to the wiki, and she's demonstrating something to the children giving her a bit of a maternal feel which I think helps.

Me too on the 404. I agree that a maternal feel helps. This character is nearly always married and often a mother. Just a woman dressed up pretty doesn't seem good enough.

[up] You know, you do have a point there.

Never mind bad link.

You mean the point of her being maternal?

I'm not fan of Eliza or the pic. Anyone who knows the story will know she's a wild cat with very common breeding and anyone who doesn't know it will see, well, methinks the specific image is too boisterous, flirty, and not prim enough.

[up] While you are correct about Eliza initially, anyone familiar with the story would know that while she may have started off that way, she does eventually become or at least can pass off as a proper lady.

And for those not familiar with the story she appears, in all respects, a Lady proper.

1 is passable, others not so much. Would be fine to leave page imageless.

Well with so many other tropes under it, it would probably be best to keep it blank to avoid confusion.

[up][up] But she's a drunk who murdered her way into a job and gave children drugs to make them think they're jumping into paintings! That's not very proper at all!

... joking aside, it's a good image. I still support OP's suggested painting, though.
