Yeah, that's an easy pull seeing as though it's an example, it's a bad image choice. I can think of a couple examples that could work though.

Tropes Are Not Narrow. The horse in that situation fills the same function, as the point is more to establish the character owning the pet as reckless rather than it strictly being a pet.

The image seems to have nothing to do with pets being killed. The caption only distracts from the trope even more.
