Hello, I searched the forum for pretty much any phrase that I could think of, but did not find a topic dedicated to these games. -

I'm glad that I purchased this game, and um that's all.

Most of the discussion for it is in the Neptunia thread, actually.

In any event, I tried very hard to like it but couldn't stand the required grinding and overly-complex battle system. Heard Z does away with a lot of the useless information.

Still, this game didn't deserve the anti-censor backlash.

Thanks for making a thread for this game Feinoha! I really love this series, it perfectly fits my niche.

TV Tropes is basically a wiki correct? I'm also very new to the forums so I make a lot of newbie mistakes.

[up] Yeah, it's a wiki.

[up][up] Yeah...I've seen the content that was cut out. Eugh. Sometimes censorship is worthless, but occasionally, like in this case, I don't see the problem. It doesn't really add much to the game aside from some stat increases, which happened anyway, and removing it got rid of a whole lot of creepy vibes that would have severely hurt NISA's ability to sell the game. Hell, people complain about the Atelier games sexualizing their female leads. Imagine how they would react to the original bath-house minigames.

I do have fun with this game, but it is a little too grindy.

[up]Grinding in the Mugen Field was my favorite part of the series cool

I can think of a couple other tropes for this game such as amnesiac main character, mistaken identity (this should also go with Spiritual Successor).

When we're thinking of tropes, we make a trope for both Mugen Souls and Mugen Souls Z right?

You're fleshing out the article?

If so, what Z needs is its own separate page, but only if you can actually make both of them decent in length.

I plan on fleshing out the article in the near future. For the Mugen Souls Z tropes, I plan on copying most of them from the original game and adding extras. I just signed up a few days ago and finally got to post yesterday.

First I want to read all of the required readings and tips before I start working on TV tropes. There seems to be a discussion section of the Tropes page and nobody has used it yet so I'll read about the wiki first.

Indeed, the game deserved to be censored. Those scenes did take things too far.

[up]What is the backlash with the censorship of this game?

Basically some people freaked out because it was censored. Essentially the "any censorship is bad" crowd. I can see their point, but when it doesn't hurt the game, I don't really have a problem with it.

[up]Thank you for the info Zendervai, I guess I will leave things as it is since I don't know what's going on.

Would having multiple endings be a TV trope? How about having cameos from other games?

I'm still not too familiar with TV, I think I need to play more games or watch TV.

Multiple Endings is a trope, and The Cameo is a trope as well.

Cool, looks like they haven't been added yet to the wiki yet but I'll make note of this so I can think of some interesting things to write for those tropes.

How about the Japanese names for the 7 Worlds being a pun of the days of the week?

So this game came out right around the time I got a new PS 3 so I figured it was Destiny! Well more like I saw that and just figured I'd preorder it because I love me some JRP Gs.

The game was really, REALLY good, much better in every respect than I imagined. If you are used to FF style combat and you want to play MSZ, just recognize this one objective truth: MSZ's battle system is better than any FF battle system. In fact, it's better than every FF battle system combined x 100. It is ridiculously fun and addictive but also very layered and complex. It makes the most recent FF games look like FF 1 by comparison. There is so much to the gameplay that I would not even be able to do it justice...just check out a real review of the game or some videos on YT.

A couple huge surprises for me though was the quality of the audio ie. the quality of the English dub and the soundtrack. The dub was FANTASTIC and probably better than any FF dub save XII's. I would say the real standout vocal performances were Alys' and Tioni's. I have no idea who voices Tioni but Alys was voiced by the same lady as the first game, Erin Fitzgerald. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erin_Fitzgerald

I knew from the second I heard Alys' voice during an early cameo that she was gonna be in my party. Ms. Fitzgerald is beyond perfect.

That isn't to say Cherami Leigh as Syrma (the main character) was lacking, because she was absolutely perfect. You get to hear her full amazing range during her Fetish Poses.

I was also a huge fan of Ace's VA. Ace was by far my favorite character in the game and I wish I knew who did his voice...

The only complaint I have about the dub is that there isn't enough of it. I guess Final Fantasy and Xenosaga spoiled me because NISA can't afford to voice everything like Square and Namco could.

Now getting to the soundtrack, it isn't Best EVAR material or anything but it was very very good and I am gonna buy the soundtrack when I actually have money

Overall the game was a lot of fun. Once the DLC is out I'm gonna return to it and try to get up to Level 1000 with my stats in the millions.

The story was a bit dumb but I don't think they intended it to be a masterpiece or anything. it was serviceable. Ace and Tio I thought were legit good characters as well and really I think the game is founded more on making a huge cast of character you will like than constructing a multifaceted narrative.

[up]I actually think it's a miracle they dubbed it at all given how much of a flop the original (rightly) was.
