May I ask, out of pure curiosity, about the reason(s) behind this change?

Auto-locking was causing more work than it was saving. Cutting a title in one namespace was causing the title to be redlinked in other namespaces. Just a couple of tweaks.

And it's not really a good idea to do it to an admin.

When an article is cut it no longer locks the title. It should also not redlink the title in all namespaces unless they have all been deleted.
