will the new Nick pres mean we can get The Patakis greenlit

Updates from a Deep Throat kind of guy for animation.

Specifically for Nick:

  • The Loud House, Rise of the TMNT, SpongeBob, Welcome to the Wayne, and Shimmer and Shine are still going.
  • An upcoming Nicktoon, Glitch Techs is still happening this year. From the guy who made Fanboy and Chum Chum, but probably won't look like that. (Please disregard the image that was here. It might not really have anything to do with Glitch Techs, other than the guy who drew that is storyboarding for GT and the guy who tweeted that picture was just being a goober. Sorry about that.) Actually, here's the closest we're going to get to a preview at the moment...
  • Remember that Invader Zim TV movie and that Rocko's Modern Life comeback? Those are still happening, so don't worry about the radio silence.
  • Henry Danger, however, is wrapping up. Which is for the best, considering the show wasn't great to begin with and the maker of the show has been established as a very bad person who got the boot from Nick recently.

Also, interesting tidbit:

Allegedly, Viacom's upper management was displeased that Nick lagged competitors in the internet streaming department. Also, too, new Viacom Prez Bob Bakish has been sweeping with a big broom.

I can only imagine that that "big broom" bit means "the new president is doing a major cleanup and that's ultimately for the best."

So Pinky Malinky will still be produced by Nickelodeon, but will actually premiere exclusively to Netflix. It looks like Viacom finally threw their hands in the air and are letting their channels produce shows for other platforms, including a reboot of Daria.

I think this is exciting and the best news yet. This way, shows Nickelodeon produces can find audiences outside of the main channel (like Welcome to the Wayne) without competing for airtime. And who's the say that Nickelodeon couldn't revive Avatar for Netflix or Amazon?

That show had a perfectly good ending as it was. Where could you take it?

While I would FREAKING LOVE to agree with you, Spongebob still is the highest rated show in the Kids Biz. It gets 1.3 million where now channels struggle with 500k! So no.

But Pinky Malinky looked like shit anyways, so I dont mind it not airing on Nickelodeon.

[up][up][up]More like "Daddy Viacom told us we're sitting on a lot of IP and we're never going to catch up with streaming platforms, so if you can't beat 'em, join 'em and spread brand awareness." MTV is doing the same thing with their new MTV Studios.

[up][up]It didn't even air yet, so I don't think that's valid. Plus, If Gumball looks the same, and some of the same people are working on Pinky, why does it get a pass? I guess it's just a matter of taste, but I honestly don't understand why people call something shit without seeing it first.

Pretty sure I'm also gonna get called out for this too.

[up]x5: Surprisingly (or not), Nickelodeon has a decent leading gap from Disney Channel (2nd) and Cartoon Network (3rd), both of them neck and neck on the lower end of audience pull.

[up]x4: Daria isn't the only upcoming rebooted MTV show, which includes Æon Flux and The Real World. As Mega J pointed out, it's apart of Viacom's new "MTV Studios" branch with "the goal of rebooting old hits, along with original properties, to sell to other networks and streamers". Nickelodeon is following suit too.

Pinky Malinky being a Netflix series might be the earliest step to this push.

[up]The sad thing is that IIRC, Nickelodeon is in less homes than Disney or Cartoon Network and on less services and they still manage to whip the competition. The power of branding, folks.

I’m actually excited for this new strategy, this way shows that don’t fit in as instant ratings grabber can find a dedicated audience. And it’s a chance of a Avatar revival since there’s an audience for it but not on the main Nick channel.

They really need to air their 2000's Nicktoons on Nick Splat. The 90's ones are cool, but it would be better if they aired an episode of Danny Phantom or MLAATR every once in a while.

So apparently, there's this "teaser" trailer (I put teaser in quotes because it reveals enough for it to be a regular trailer), for Paramount's upcoming animated film Wonder Park. Why post this in the Nickelodeon thread? Because they are co-producing, and aim to make this into another network franchise. In fact, there's a series that's already in production for it, supposedly like they did with Jimmy Neutron and Back At The Barnyard! It is directed by David Fleiss (Cow & Chicken), and depicts an abandoned amusement park that comes to life through a girl's imagination

Amid Amidi of Cartoon Brew however, is scathing and critical to this trailer in a post he made today, and states that there is no announcement of a current director nor does it explain how the park comes to life, despite more info appearing on Wikipedia and other sources, proving that he did only the barest of research of any!

Cartoon Brew isn't a trustworthy news source, they're too biased. Remember when they said that MLP marked the end of creator driven animation?

But anyways, I am sure Wonder Park will be a good movie.

It didn't look too bad to me either. Looks like it could be a decent enough movie, and the visuals were pretty good, even if not Pixar/Dreamworks level. I'm not sure how you would turn it into a TV show afterwards ala Jimmy Neutron going by what we do know about it, though.

Rugrats will be joining the other Nick series being relaunched.

The original creators Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain will return as executive producers.

CGI/live action TV movie to act as series premiere set to premiere on November 13th, 2020 with David Goodman (The Golden Girls, Futurama, Star Trek: Enterprise, Family Guy, Allen Gregory, Fred The Movie, American Dad!, The Orville) as head writer.

Additional news of the new series will be out soon.

    Article
Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures announced today a relaunch of the kids’ entertainment franchise “Rugrats.” A new animated-series revival featuring the characters from the ’90s cartoon has received with a 26-episode order from Nickelodeon; and Paramount Players, the new film division launched to develop projects based on properties from Viacom cable channels, has given a greenlight to a live-action film featuring CGI characters. Both the TV series and the movie will include new adventures with beloved characters Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie and Angelica, and will also introduce a new world of characters.

The show’s original creators Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain will return to the TV series as executive producers. Nickelodeon’s “Rugrats” will be produced in Burbank, Calif., with production already underway. Additional news of the TV series, airdate and casting will be announced in the coming months.

“Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures,” said Sarah Levy, COO of Viacom Media Networks and interim president of Nickelodeon. “What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”

The “Rugrats” movie will be written by David Goodman and is set to be released on Nov. 13, 2020 by Paramount Players, the division of Paramount Pictures that develops and produces co-branded feature films with Viacom’s leading media networks.

“Now feels like the ideal time to reintroduce this iconic cast of characters to a whole new generation of young fans,” said Brian Robbins, president of Paramount Players. “Kids who grew up with Tommy Pickles and the “Rugrats” crew will now be able to share that experience with their own children.”

“Rugrats” joins the recently announced return of “Blue’s Clues” as the latest classic original series Nickelodeon is bringing back for today’s generation of kids and families. Nickelodeon produced and aired an all-new “Hey Arnold!” special in 2017, and has announced the return of two more beloved titles as forthcoming specials: “Rocko’s Modern Life” and “Invader Zim.”
