I'm doing this in a bundle instead of opening a thread for each of them. The following Trope Co pages...

...happens to have the same pictures as their respective Main/ trope pages.

Now, the question is, does the no duplicate images rule applies for such Just for Fun pages?

For information, in about 50 Trope Co. pages, these 5 are the only ones with the problem. All other have either no image at all or a different image than the trope. Although I suspect this is more a case of picture drift (the trope pages having their image changed at some time, while the Trope Co. ones stay untouched) than anything voluntary.

If duplicates need to be eliminated, I'm not set on finding them a replacement; the pictures can be simply removed from the Trope Co. pages.

While these pages could use more advertisement-ey images in comparison to Main/ pages, I am not sure if duplicate is a problem here.

Why don't they need replacing if they're dupes or marginally different?

Two tropes having identical images is a problem because the probability that one image is ideal for two tropes is low. Not sure how it translates to TropeCo/ pages beyond what I noted, though.

Marginally different is not the same thing as "identical" unless all the relevant bits are identical.

[up] I tend to agree...if we can somehow find more ad-like pics for them then that would fit the theme more, but if not then I'm good to keep their current pics.

I can see the argument for having be duplicates but it's a bit lazy too to use the same image twice though it's just the advertisement version of that trope.

Another thing with using one image for two tropes is that it gets confusing as to what exactly the image is illustrating, and thus it's better to have images that clearly show the difference between the tropes rather than the similarities.

On the other hand, here we have the same trope, so the same image won't cause any confusion.

The general consensus seems to be it isn't considered a problem to have the same image for what's basically a sub-page, but if the remaining images were changed for something more "commercial", nobody would mind either.

If I were to find new, fitting images for the Trope Co. pages, would it be frowned upon that I'd change them without further discussion, or should I open an individual thread for each of them with the suggestion?

Well, you're doing a bundle so do 'em here, nobody will mind.

[up][up] I'd say just use this thread for them, provided it doesn't take too long to find the new pics.

The TropeCo.Holy Halo one already has a good countender that emerged from the thread about the main trope.

I'll see if I can look around for nice pics about the 4 others.

That doesn't look like a door to me, though.

[up]The important point is that it looks like an advert. That it's a bad advert is secondary, I'd say, so it gets my vote. Plus, force-field doors rarely look like a door, in fact.

I think I found a good one for Psycho Serum.

It looks no more like a door than like a Force Field.

TropCo.Holy Halo should wait until we decide on a new picture for the main page. There is currently a thread open for that.

[up]I wonder which thread is better to decide that image on.

[up][tup] for 18. I kind of like the fine print legal jargon in the lower half.

[tup] for 14 too.

EDIT: Holy Halo for sale.

[up]So-so for the first two... but I like the shield, however. Looks like a discount full-barrier.

The exact picture I'd found for Psycho Serum seems to have moved (and I hadn't saved it, silly me), but there's still this one, which is good enough.

[up] how do you mean?... the link for 14 still works.

If you're on a computer have you tried right clicking on the image and select "search Google for similar images"?

We have at least one contender for each, even thought the consensus is weak for TropeCo.Force Field Door. Anyway, here's the best candidates so far:

The Beehive Barrier one should work with a caption saying that if you can't pay for the full barrier, you can have the retail shield...
