This game just came out on the PSN store yesterday (and had a retail release around the same time). It's a roguelike about trying to save your curry restaurant from the big bad curry chain that just came into town, and the way you do that is travel around place to place, exploring dungeons and stuff in the hopes of finding the legendary curry. Hilarity Ensues, for there are wacky hijinks and characters to expect along the way.

Trailer for those interested:

Looks pretty ridiculous.

Should note that it's developed by Compile Heart and published by Aksys in the States.

Absolutely no relation to NLK
That is the most Japanese thing I've seen all month.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.

I picked it up on release.

It's really well-done, but imperfect in typical Compile Heart fashion thanks to controls not being fully explained. (I stumbled upon the ability to pick up things I'm standing on by accident, for example).

Two things really define this game: How Kuu works and the deliciously vague item descriptions.

I'd buy it to play it myself, but it's $35-40 (depending on whether you buy the digital copy or the retail one), and I'm not planning on spending that much on a game when I've already decided on spending it on the Silver Anniversary edition of Ys: Memories of Celceta and whatever cheap PC games pop up in the holiday sale.

Same here. I'm more interested in the cheaper Doki Doki Universe than this. Though I do like Arc Sys recent localizations of Muramasa and Sweet Fuse, I'm going to pass on this.
Will get it as soon as an R3 version is released (because DLC).

...or when I run out of patience.
Ran out of patience. I bought the Japanese version because there's still no English version on my country's PS Store. :/

Just cleared Chapter 2.

Anyways, some possibly interesting things about the characters...

- Pupuru refers to herself with "boku" (potholes aren't working for this for some reason, so: Bokukko. Her manner of speech, of course, is very casual.

- Puni always ends her sentences with "kamo", which means "maybe". Basically, she's like Kanaria (who uses "kashira" instead, but has a similar meaning).

- Nikori uses strictly plain speech, from what I've seen. Meaning all verbs are in dictionary form, all sentences end in "da" if "desu" would be normally used, no Keigo. Personally I find this quite odd, because someone with his personality and tone of voice would usually use polite speech. But then again, I suppose it comes down to individual preference...

- Eternia speaks like an old man. She uses the first-person pronoun "washi", normally used by old men, and she also uses a formal and somewhat out-of-date manner of speech. I wonder why...

- To hammer the point home, Goldahl (I'm just winging the translation here), an old man, also uses "washi". He also speaks in a pretty arrogant manner, befitting his status as the antagonist.

- Gigadis uses the first-person pronoun "yo", which is archaic and alludes to his status as "royalty". He also uses the second-person pronoun "sonata", which is also archaic.

Can't remember the speech patterns of anyone else at the moment. Guess I'll have to wait for them to show up again.

1.5 years later, Sorcery Saga gets a big discount on the Playstation Store as part of Sony's Golden Week Sale event. $7.49 for regular users, $6 for PS Plus users.

From what I've heard and read, this is pretty much a remake of the first Madou Monogatari but the characters were replaced with an all-new cast for legal reasons.
The system doesn't know you right now, so no post button for you.
You need to Get Known to get one of those.
