Since I double posted instead of editing, I'll share another Christmas song instead. I find I now associate all instrumental "Sleigh Ride" covers with Super Mario World because of this:

My preferences go to any of Bob Rivers' Christmas carol parodies. They're amazing, and it's almost a requirement for my family to listen to them every year.
I don’t even know anymore.

With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.

My band had a Christmas party gig yesterday, and we did the first couple verses of this song as an intro. What's sort of neat is that one of my band-mates knows members of The Dogmatics, so we got the chords and lyrics straight from the guy who wrote it. The handwritten lyric sheet is now being saved as a memento.
PS: Outside of fans of eighties Boston punk, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones version is probably a bit more well-known. I like that their version brings the melody out a bit more, but I think the original's Three Chords and the Truth feel fits the sentiment of the song. Basically, to me the narrator sounds depressed in the Bosstones version, but both depressed and a little pissed off in the original (I particularly like the way "there's no such thing as peace on earth, peace and harmony!" is snarled out).
