Plenty of anime tropes have non-anime examples. Also, this has almost 3,000 inbounds.
I'd look to see if some examples can be moved to more appropriate tropes. There's already a large list of such tropes.

That is kinda missing the point.
The trope is defined as being about cartoon characters, yet we have everything from "morning hair" to David Bowie.
So is this something that only applies to cartoons and similar "drawn" works, or it is about any hair in any context?

Do we have tropes for bizarre hair styles in non-cartoon works?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanImprobable Hairstyle and everything else listed on the Anime Hair page.
I feel like part of Anime Hair is similar to You Gotta Have Blue Hair; the hair is weird but no one considers it to be odd.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Clock is set.
So what do people think? Should we cleanup the non-cartoon examples as misuse, or expand the definition to match the current use?
I think that this is a stylistic choice in animated media primarily, and possibly of drawn media. Live action stuff seems kind of fishy to me.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI agree, unless the character is trying to emulate an anime hairstyle in-universe.
I'm inclined to support ruling out live-action examples for this trope, but I definitely wouldn't be in favor of folding any part of it into Improbable Hairstyle. That's a much bigger mess.
My take is:
- Anime Hair is an art style trope and cannot be played straight in live action media
- it can however be invoked, discussed, etc. in live action media
So, are for instance cosplayers invoking Anime Hair when they spend tons of time, teasing, and hairspray to create a hairstyle that in the source work seems to occur naturally or with very little maintenance required? I'd say so.
So do we have a consensus to start removing the bulk of the non-cartoon/comic/game examples that don't intentionally invoke the trope (ie cosplay and live action versions of cartoons/comics), or does anyone want a vote?

I've hooked a single-prop crowner.
We need more votes.
It's been a week, and while we're not at the magic 15 vote margin, 11-0 for the action is good enough for me in this case. Make it so.
I'll do when I am back home.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI did a bunch of deletions, but since I am not familiar with all works involved, I'd like someone to look over the page and the removed examples in case any of them actually fits the requirements.
Also, should we make this trope No Real Life Examples, Please!? Real Life is not a drawn medium.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYeah. Real life examples would fit on Improbable Hairstyle.
We should probably also clean up the wicks. I mean, American Idol examples? I don't think so. We can also kill any zero context examples while we are at it.

I didn't take the wicks yet - I wanted to know whether the cleaning of the main page was well done first.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think we also need a note on the main page that this isn't just anyone who has slightly spiky hair like you can get with some gel and a comb.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThat brings to mind, what's our stance on more extreme hairstyles such as two-foot-long mohawks that have to be glued with actual glue to stay in style? Or whatever crazy tricks hairstylists pull for their avantgarde rounds in professional competitions. Those that look like hair-coloured sculptures instead of actual hairstyles.

Isn't there a separate trope for these?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAh yes, Improbable Hairstyle. That clarifies things. I guess we could draw some guidelines so that live-action media examples by default go to Improbable Hairstyle whether they invoke Anime Hair or not. Anime Hair when applied to real-life hair is always Improbable Hairstyle due to insane maintenance, so it's kind of a partial subtrope.
Then again the relation of IH and AH isn't all clear-cut since IH handles hair that's either anachronistic to the work's setting or "uncannily maintained while stranded on islands, planets, the past, spaceships". The anime & manga portion of IH maintenance section reads as "Anime Hair, but we'll point it out on this page as well"...

Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
The description for the trope is as follows:
"A catch-all term used for anime and cartoon characters with bizarre, improbable, or just plain goofy-looking hairstyles."
Yet it has a huge sections, even on the page (to say nothing of the wicks), of examples that range from European music starts to live action film that have no relation to anime, manga, or other forms of comics and cartoons. Even Andrew Jackson is said to have Anime Hair.
Also, the index includes lots of hair styles that either have nothing to Anime, such as '80s Hair, or that even if Japanese, they originated in Real Life hair styles, such as the Hime Cut.
Should we redefine this to match how it is used, and if so, why call it "anime" hair?
Or should we simply clean up the massive misuse? For example, lots of Live Action cases would be more accurately described as Spiky Hair.
I think an argument could also be made that sense hair in anime is in fact rather diverse, and the list on the page is mostly duplicating the Hair Tropes list, we could just roll this into Hair Tropes.
