Here's the problem. You come up with great ideas, of which this is one but then you never follow through on them. If I sign up I'd like to know that I'll be posting more than once or twice. Sorry for being blunt. I understand that RL gets in the way and a slice of life does allow for minimal GM involvement but there still has to be some.

Trump delenda estI understand your concern, but this is something I am heavily investing in and following up on, mainly because it's rooted in the history of my homeplace.
Dante, Virginia is a real place, a coal town I grew up near, and I always wanted to do something with my history and Appalachian heritage, so this is what I came up with. No half-assing on this one. I am fully investing into this RP as much as my spare time will allow.

Fair enough. I will create a character. but if you skip out, I will hunt you down and hit you with a pie. I call dibs on one of the brawler spots

Trump delenda estSounds reasonable to me
Here is my character
- Name: Elizabeth Colbird
- Gender: Female
- Age: 19
- Race: Half-Elf
- Class: Worker
- Appearance: http://www.zerochan.net/1397635
- Personality: Kind, caring, and sometimes tomboyish. Elizabeth Colbird is a hard worker, cooking and serving food for the miners and rail workers in Dante is her passion. In addition to being a good cook, she is a Big Eater and a surprisingly decent shot with a rifle, having had to defend her yard from coyotes and other varmints.
- Powers/Abilities: Elizabeth has the following skills...
- Crack Shot: Despite no formal training with firearms, Elizabeth is a good shot with steady aim. Her father taught her how to shoot when she was young and she has had experience keeping animals out of her yard and occasionally having to help hunters bag fresh game for the kitchen she works in.
- Equipment: Kitchen Knife, Pots and pans, Cooking Utensils, Canteen of Water, Bottle of Wine, Small-caliber Rifle (not usually on her person, but is at her house)
- Other: She loves sweets

- Name: Tuck Rockfist
- Age: 92
- Race: Dwarf
- Appearance: Short, stocky, muscular, bearded however for a dwarf at least his beard is kept short and trim, perhaps to draw attention to the huge walrus mustache he has. Beard, moustache and hair are all red. Generally he wears a pair of canvas trousers held up by suspenders and shirts whose sleeves he keeps rolled up as well as a bowler hat. He can usually be found with a cigar in his mouth as well.
- Class: Brawler
- Personality: Cheerfully aggressive and flamboyant. He likes to style himself as a "freelance keeper of the peace" although what he really is is a bully for hire. However he draws the line at hurting women or children barring those who show they're as tough as he is.
- Powers/Abilities: He is a skilled hand-to-hand fighter, having trained in the Dwarven martial art warkae (based on pankration.
- Equipment: Brass knuckles and a large knife, although he saves them for emergencies as it's point of pride for him to use his bare hands whenever possible. He also keeps a supply of cigars in his shirt pocket and a flask of whiskey in his pants.

Good to be backThis looks promising. Count me in!
I'll put down a character soon.
Name: Manfred "Manny" Belacqua
Gender: Male
Age: 36
Race: Human
Class: Worker
Appearance: Short and fit, but has a distinct Roman nose and a pair of glasses that he always wears, even though the lenses are almost always black with soot. Wears a hard hat with a light ontop along with the standard miner's uniform◊ and a quickly greying face mask (he needs to replace it every day). Manny has brown eyes and ruffled chestnut hair which is (of course!) turning black with all the soot.
Personality: For somebody who works in an incredibly dangerous place in almost complete darkness fifty hours a week, Manny is remarkably chipper. He is thankful for his job in the mines, but is looking for the Mine Boss job to better support his growing family; he already has a little girl named Abbie, and his wife Maria is expecting their second child.
That being said, Manny isn't really much of a public speaker. Or a leader. At all. He's strong enough and clever enough to be a decent leader, but the very thought of speaking in front of a crowd makes him woozy. He isn't remarkably brave, but will stand by his friends in a fight. Unless a spider's involved. He hates them.
Powers/Abilities: Manny is very accustomed to seeing in the dark, as well as moving around in tight areas. He can fight with a blunt object well, but doesn't have any specific training in combat. He can be quite sociable, but again, don't expect him to speak in front of crowds.
Equipment: Pickaxe, headlamp, an extra flashlight, a tiny bit of food he keeps from his lunch for later. He's not really packin'.
Ooh, revival! I had given up hope.
Trump delenda estWell, don't get too excited yet. I'm still waiting for approval.
Your character is approved
Bumping for interest
I'm still interested, but unless this gets off the ground soon I'm going to have to leave. These next two weeks are going to be Hell on Earth.
Okay, the premise is simple. This RP is an alternate Earth where magic, fantasy races, and some Steampunk and Diesel Punk technologies exist. This will be sort of a Slice of Life RP that will later become an adventure RP.
The setting is Earth circa 1913, specifically the coalfields of Southwestern Virginia around the Clinchfield Railroad. It's the time of the coal booms and railroad booms in the Appalachian Mountains and people have come from all over to find work in the numerous coal mines or the Clinchfield Railroad. The companies run the various mining towns and camps across the region, and the town of Dante stands out in particular.
Dante is the home of both mines and a major rail yard for the Clinchfield Railroad, and in addition to the local hill folk, descended from Scots-Irish settlers, many immigrants from Europe and people from the major cities in the North have come to the mountains, hired by the companies to either work the rails or work in the mines. A small but growing community is thriving in Dante, and it seems like this rural mountain town is attracting people from all walks of life.
But strange things are happening in the town, and what will befall the residents of Dante?
Now, onto the character classes, each class has a limit of players available....
Okay, now that the classes are explained, it is time to post the sign-up sheet.
