Make it as over the top parody. Given how, well, formulaic that situation is, you're choices for making it distinctive are playing it to Brothers Grimm levels of dark and straight (in which case Yang is losing more than just the hand), or to go the toehr way and go full-on Shrek.
So get singing Grimm involved then?
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!I actually want it to be a mix of System and Disney humour. Sun's outlook on life is that the idea of a romantic, fairy tale ending is a pile of garbage, and shouldn't be taken seriously. He's also a thief who leads a group of thieves, Team SSSN.
However, I also draw a little inspiration from the Swan Princess, in that Adam visits Blake once every year to see if she will take him. Of she does, curse is lifted.
I am still thinking about if everyone in the castle is turned into objects. Maybe, maybe not. Though, Weiss would be a harp.
The fic would have it's light hearted moments here and there, but it would also try to be mature and sweet, with a few pieces of nightmare fuel.
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name. So, on a scale of drama to melodrama, we talking Once Upon a Time or Puella Magi Madoka Magica?
Uh, RWBY levels? As well as Beauty and the Beast, 2017.
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name.Stealing (or not stealing) attention away for a moment, there's RWBY/Borderlands fusion fanfic that's been criminally ignored for the better part of a year called Remnant Lands.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Imagine a RWBY version of the Little Mermaid, with Weiss and Neptune?
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name. You know, a while back I found a web page that I can't find again. On it there were some people saying that swans being turned into humans wouldn't be petite and delicate beauties, but large Amazonian women.
Fate Grand Order players will know me as Ryusei-Go.Also, swans are aggressive assholes.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. That was, until man invented a new weapon to fight against the Grimm. A new kind of white Dust was discovered which, while harmless against beings with auras, could kill a Grimm of any size in one shot. This new Dust was called 'Thunder and Lightning' for the loud sound it made when fired from a gun, but the public shortened it to 'Thunder', and later to just 'Crack'. Within months of the invention of Crack, Grimm were wiped out from most of the planet and humanity began flourishing and expanding like never before.
But all was not well. Huntsmen, previously heroes of the people, suddenly became expensive luxuries rather than necessary defenders, and so the public began turning against them. It all came to a head when the ruling council of Vale fired all its huntsmen without notice and without giving them any of their promised retirement benefits. Some resisted this move, but those protests were met with deadly force. Many former Huntsmen were killed in the infamous 'crack'-down, one of whom was Taiyang Xiao Long. The other three kingdoms fired their Huntsmen as well soon afterwards, casting them off into the gutter.
Of the Huntsmen and Huntresses who survived, some were lucky enough to reintegrate into society and begin living normal lives. Most, however, were not so fortunate.
Shunned by society and with no practical skills of their own, many were forced to turn to crime to make a living. This is a story of two of those Huntresses who were forced to fight to survive. This is a story of family and loss, of triumph and failure, and of love and tragedy.
But, most importantly, this is a story about how one girl fucked some shit up.
I'm confident in BAYJ (Beige), but do JSPR (Jasper) and GWNR (Gunner) seem like sufficiently rule-compliant team names?
JSPR refers to a mineral most commonly found in red or orange colors, while GWNR is based on "gunmetal" being a particular shade of gray.
Fair advert: No OCs are used in the composition of those teams, but it is for a crossover I'm planning out, and there are characters from the crossed-over series on each team.
Incidentally: Turns out that half of the protagonist-side crossover characters are compliant to the RWBY world's colorful theme naming anyway, despite being from another universe.

Yes. Like I'm not sure why you're thinking the first one isn't compliant, it very much is.
Because I'm paranoid, probably.
I have a title for my Black Sun!Beauty and the Beast fic. Sun and the Beast. And I've got the basic plot outlined.
Blake Belladonna was the Princess of Menagerie, and was in love with Adam Taurus. On her birthday, she offends an Enchantress by refusing her food reserved for Adam, who failed to show up, and as punishment, is transformed into a hideous Beast. Her parents were away on important business and die in an accident, leaving Blake with only her servants, who are all unable to leave the castle, save Blake, but she won't because of her appearance. The woods surrounding the castle are infested with Grimm. Adam visits her, but the relationship between them is Domestic Abuse with Stockholm Syndrome.
Sun, Sage, Scarlet and Neptune are all thieves, and after getting into some trouble with the White Fang, Sun and Neptune hide out in the old Belladonna castle, which they think is abandoned. Of course, it isn't. Neptune gets imprisoned and Sun offers to take his place instead.
For the servants, I'm thinking they will be Yang, Weiss, Ruby, Pyrrha, Jaune, Oobleck, Port, Coco, Velvet and Fox.
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name. So, is it a hard rule that the first letter of the team name is the Team Captain (Ruby, Jaune, presumably Cardin and Sun, etc.), or does it just tend to just... end up happening that way?
It has happened that way so far, but it hasn't been mentioned as a hard and fast rule and Weiss's reactions suggests that if it is one, she did not know that.
Given what we've seen so far, it's a safe assumption to make. I've not seen anything either in the show or across a multitude of fics to suggest otherwise.
Doesn't really stop people from ignoring it though. Monty set out the color rules and while it can make things a bit more thematic, teaching a curricum solely through the convenience of readily-applicable team names would be near, if not outright impossible.
Like, Team "Wyvern." Sounds cool. Where ya gonna find the initials for that?
Or let's say Ruby wasn't leader and Weiss was. So the team's now Team WRBY. Team "were-butterfly?" Team "where-be?" Team "Wereby?"
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!There are fics about that and it's still pronounce "ruby".
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Does anyone like my idea for a Black Sun!Beauty and the Beast fic?
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name.Bumblebee is the only ship whose existence I acknowledge.
I'm not really into romance or stories that remodel the setting to such a degree so it's not really fair for me to pass judgment on it, and you'll have to excuse this thread for it's lack of response because, despite RWBY having such a prominent fan art community, this thread is criminally underused.
That said you've seemingly switched the roles of "Belle" and "the Beast" and while I don't really see the point of that (in fact I question if the allusion still works if they're switched) it certainly catches one's attention.

In other words, git creative, scrub.
I have said some time now that this is the thread where ideas go to die.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Actually I did much the same thing, but you don't even have to reach for names. Weiss, Velvet, Ren and Nora.
Are Yang and Weiss going to be Lumiere and Cogsworth?
‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’
