I think he did the psi-partical overload thing he did during his duel in ep 1 or 2.
Anyway, you are not allowed to beat a badguy without Tatsuya if he is the scene.

Lu Gonghu was hit by Tatsuya using the counter-magic spell "Gram Demolition"
Keep Rolling OnEpisode 23:
- Lots and lots of planning ahead.
- A tense moment between my favorite "counselor" and my favorite 2nd Lieutenant.
- So cold, Erika. He does look like a con-artist, though.
- Oh, you think your presentation can top theirs, George? Well, bring it, little ma- the enemy pounces! Right on time...
- So Lu's gonna make a comeback. I'm sure y'all don't need to hear this, but... Be careful.
To clarify, Lu Gonghu had buffed his defenses with magic (Steel Qigong), which made all of Mayumi's shots useless and dulled the force of Mari's blow dramatically to boot. Tatsuya used Gram Demolition to shred his protective barrier so Mayumi and Mari could actually hurt the guy.
Give the God Eater game thread some love!Off-topic, but I just want to point out...
That's some badass OST cover, man.
Working on a manga. With pictures! All feedback welcome!Episode 24:
- A moment for all the fools who tried to take Tatsuya on. He didn't punch, kick, or slash them. No, he tore them to shreds.
- Huh, looks like Leo's not gonna get his hands dirty. All that training... Maybe I'm jumping the gun, though.
- I'll be rooting for ya, President Azusa.
- And the military cat's out of the bag. Explanations at 11.
- A kiss from sister dearest unlocked Tatsuya's power? ...Rejoice and feel honored, arc villains. Y'all are dangerous enough for Tatsuya to become even more broken. I hope y'all enjoy the banquet of carnage he will be delivering to y'all.
If you don't know in advance, Hold On Tight.
Keep Rolling OnEpisode 25:
- Well, aside from the text book case of shock factor at the end, everyone did well surviving.
- Now I've seen why Masaki's the Crimson Prince.
- Those sorry excuses of mechs... If they were placed in a death-match against the Paladin mechs, the Paladins would win in a heartbeat.
- I really shouldn't be surprised that Tatsuya can use Instant Regen on others.
That people exploding spell not!Suzaku used reminds me of Tatsuya's attack. But bloodier.
Oh and apparently Miyuki didn't use some ice magic this episode when those soldiers got greyed out, apparently that's a visual cue for she froze their very souls. Now that's nasty.
For revealing that power of Tatsuya's this part works fine, but in the anime where it's brief and nothing is explained it just looks like he showed up out of nowhere and used his christ-like powers before flying off into the sunset.

"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."Oh man, so much going on with so little explanation. If anyone's wondering about Azusa's spell, her specialty magic is a type of mind-control magic. Well not quite, it's a form of hypnotic suggestion to force the students to staying calm. Because of the nature of the spell though, it's also very strictly regulated, which is why she was worried about using it.
Tatsuya's healing magic is him using his auto-regen on other people, obviously. But it's not without cost; in exchange he feels every ounce of the pain they were in. Compressed and condensed into that single moment.
Actually Cocytus permanently freezes the brain/consciousness (it's a mental interference magic after all), but for all intents and purposes it's the same. Miyuki can only use it when she's not currently suppressing Tatsuya's magic with her own.

Give the God Eater game thread some love!If that's how it really is I find it strange Miyuki can't normally do that, considering I'm sure I've seen her just flat out totally freeze people entirely before.

"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."Think of her as a CPU that's constantly running some program that requires a large amount of processing power.
Now that she's got all her RAM freed up, she can run the most graphics-intensive games or whatever without much noticeable lag.
Cocytus is nowhere near as flashy as Niflheim, but apparently it requires more power from her or whatever.
So yeah, apparently magicians are computers.

Give the God Eater game thread some love!So is the Human Brain...
The same level of control also applies to the other Mage we don't see using Magic — Suzune. Her innate magic can numb the muscles and nervous system.
When I realised what Miyuki did in that spell...Oh, Crap!.

Keep Rolling OnI guess I can buy that she has more precision available to her power now. I don't know if it was necessary, but it's plausible that she just had it available now.
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."And a little word of advice to Chiba Toshikazu: Ask your little half-sister...

Keep Rolling OnThose mechs were dumb and useless, ED-209 80's verison can mop the floor with them even if fighting in staircase.
As much as that was a curb-stomp battle, it was fun to watch the rest of First High students fighting and the Crimson Prince living up to it name.
Episode 26:
- The stomping festival went on into the dead of night. They never had a prayer.
- So his broken-ness is the reason he's an irregular. Eh, whatever.
- Wait, did Mayumi's ice attack go straight into Gonghu as it phased out? That's quite deadly...
- ...Then again, what isn't deadly? Miyuki's Insta-Freeze, Material Burst... Eep.
- Hooray, magicians are the awesomesauce. Now they will be treated as mindless killing machines more than ever before...right?
This show had the Slow Start ability, starting off slowly, then gradually built up some momentum. Maybe I'll read the LN now. ...Or maybe not. My interest in it's quite iffy...
You know, the creepy ultranationalist subtext of this show just got a whole lot scarier now this story's broken.
Episode 26:
- Tatsuya opens up...bloody hell. That is the reason that he's under such tight control. He's a Person of Mass Destruction on his own — and others, including his sister, Mayumi Saegusa, Masaki Ichijou, Katsuto Juumonji and the latest generation of Chibas (Mari included) are the same on lesser scale.
- I'm working my way through the TL of the LN series. It does go into more detail, with it's infamous Info Dumps.
- And one other thing — remember Mages are examples of a Human Weapon; there's no morality, and not much in the way of idealism in this series.
- PS: I think I lot of people went into this, seduced by the Social Justice themes of the first arc. Of course, if you did your research, you'd know it was nothing of the sort. This is a story written by a Salaryman, and Japan is hardly a left-wing country.

Keep Rolling OnI don't think anyone thought that; didn't Tatsuya laugh about how people who want equality are such fools earlier on?
I'm pretty sure everyone knew that this is politically fucking crazy from the get-go, there's pages and pages of that at the start of the thread.
I do agree that an expectation of that sort may be a little much, but I also think expectations were betrayed somewhat. It's pretty undeniable that Bloom vs Weed discrimination is a thing early on, but by now it's disappeared and there's only ONII-SAMA being a one-man jesus army.
I mean there is still the issue of how Magicians are viewed by society.
Which brings me to how the last episode was wrapped up: It sucked. Not even the narration gave proper closure and context to the battle that had just taken place, let alone the rest of the series.
Even if they're expecting a second season, it's just not a great way to wrap up an arc.
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."Pretty sure he didn't, no.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyI thought he took a more objectivist view. Though how much he shrugged at least back then seems less important now.
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."Honestly, if feels like it would have been more interesting if they had made this arc the START of the series and they just jumped into how the world dealt with magicians, rather than wasting all that time hammering in that Tasuya was god and what-not. I'm not sure it would be better, but there is a chance at least. The nine schools arc in particular felt like a waste in hindsight.
Weird thought: If Tatsuya "restores" a person he basically reverts them to an earlier state...so he could do that to people to both wipe their memories AND learn what they are feeling at the moment? yikes. I now have this vision that Tatsuya is actually the perfect serial killer. Every night he does disturbing things to sister and then fixes it.
The hell, did Tatsuya just blast that guy with his mind?
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."
