Misused: I Need You To Shut Up get usage counts

A case of a very specific trope used much more generally (even on the page itself) because the title is a Stock Phrase. Seriously, every single example on the trope page itself (except maybe the Stargate SG-1 one, as a "variant") is wrong. This may be one reason why the inbounds and such are so terrible.

What's the best solution? Expansion (but it's generally used as just "character tells or causes another to shut up is that even a trope)? Rename? Culling? Cut?

So this is a gag about someone's trying to guess another's wish until it becomes "Shut up already!".

Cut this page and move anything worth saving elsewhere.

The name is not a trope, the trope is too narrow. Cut.

Alice is trying to say something. Bob tries to say it for her. He fails, tries again, and again, and again, until Alice gets tired of it.

Sounds like a trope to me. Specifically, a narrow subversion of Finishing Each Other's Sentences. Could be expanded to any time Alice corrects Bob's attempt.

The Stargate SG-1 example (not being familiar with it myself) sounds more like a Stop Helping Me! than the trope definition. If that means there isn't a single salvageable example on the page itself, I'd be inclined to say cut and YKTTW.

The page image is not helping either, it only illustrates the "shut up" part, not the setup that leads to it.

Cut and take anything salvagable to existing tropes like Unwanted Assistance.

Do we have a trope for Stop Interrupting Me?
I just checked the wicks. As far as I can tell, the only one that uses this trope correctly is the Trope Namer bit from Doctor Who. All the others are just generalized "character tells another to shut up."

Crowner made; hollered for attachment.

Crowner's hooked.
I still say it's tropable, although I notice no one has complained about the fact the current name is dialouge-heavy.

Probably because that's something that's addressed only after it's determined that a trope is worth saving.

Personally, I'd feel a lot better about keeping it if there were, you know, any other examples besides the Trope Namer. But I guess if this doesn't end up getting cut, it'll probably be sent back to YKTTW, at the least.

I'd say there's a valid trope in here if we broadened it, but even then it'd be a premature launch. The name is an actively misleading non sequitur and dialogue. Cut.

Rhymes with "Protracted."
I agree with the fact that the trope is too narrow and more or less useless in its current incarnation. I do think that it might be expanded upon, though, in order to be made worthwhile.

Perhaps the spirit of what it's trying to get across is when a character has something important to say, but another character keeps impeding them with interruptions? Even if the interrupting character is actively trying to learn what the other person wants to say? Which usually leads to a Big "Shut Up!"?

That sounds like a valid trope to me. I suggest to take it to YKTTW, to check for duplicates as well - dialoguey titles are undesirable, so this page is probably still going to be cut.

Calling the crowner in favor of cutting I Need You To Shut Up. If someone wants to YKTTW a more functional version, feel free.
'He strutted across the bedroom, his hard manhood pointing the way' sounds like he owns a badly named seeing-eye dog. 'Sit, Hard Manhood!

Dewicked, tagged and cutlisted.

And article was cut.

Other than a reminder to everyone out there who's interested in a potential trope here to YKTTW, I think we're done.

Vote up for yes, down for no.
At issue:
Out of approximately 28 examples and wicks, all but one uses this narrowly defined trope incorrectly.
