So, anyone seen it yet? Thought it was a pretty good movie, though Lauda gets more of an arc than Hunt. Lots of gratuitous nudity, but I'm not complaining. It fit the setting/story, and NEVER object to naked Chris Hemsworth.

In a movie about James Hunt, there can be no gratuitous nudity. [lol]

I thought it was great. Captured the spirit of the racing of the day well. Thought it exaggerated the rivalry between Hunt and Lauda a bit too much. Not sure about Hemsworth as Hunt - he gives it his best though.

I don't know much about Hunt, but Hemsworth seemed to have the accent right, and the character felt very distinct from Thor or from Curt (Cabin in the Woods). It's nice to see Hemsworth getting more work.

Hemsworth is at the same time too serious and too jokey. James Hunt's life was one enormous party all about him. He was one of those people who just really fucking loved being alive. And he had very good reason to. Hemsworth doesn't quite captured that Fun Personified-feel. That's not to say he is bad as Hunt - he's not - he just isn't quite there. OTOH, Daniel Bruehl is Niki Lauda.

The film also vastly overstates Lauda and Hunt's rivalry; they were best friends IRL, and even shared a (one-bedroom) flat in London during the first years of Lauda's career, for instance.

Huh. I really got the "I love life" vibe from Hemsworth. Anyway, I loved the moment where he punched the guy who asked the question about Lauda's wife. He's just so friendly, and then PUNCH PUNCH PUNCH and then he strolls off. I don't know much about Lauda or Hunt, but apparently Lauda was very pleased with the film.
