Exactly What It Says on the Tin
Feel free post your idea for game you wish someone would start or, if you're a GM type person, peruse this thread to see if there's anything that looks interesting that at least one other person has interest in too.
All right, how about this one: A crossover RP dedicated to fiction's time travellers: The Doctor, Doc Brown and Marty, Bill and Ted, the Flash, Hermione Granger I dunno. The main conceit is that there's this mysterious zone in the middle of nowhen, sucking in time travellers like metal filings to a magnet. From there, they can go to any point in history and future on a timeline basically the same as our real world, and from there they can 'improve' history, keep history on track, prevent time traveller interference, plunder time treasures, conquer past and present etc etc.
- As with most time travel stories, as the past changes, so does the present and future.
- The hub world features objects and landmarks across time a la a time crash, and serves as an archive for any special aspects of an altered timeline.
- The time travellers can actually go home to see their friends and family whenever they like, at least at first. However, their world of origin is being integrated with the timeline of the game. Slowly at first, with features of fellow franchises bleeding through, but if the timeline is altered, BAM! Home gets sucked right in, and there's no going back from that.
I'll admit, it might be a little heavy keeping track of a constantly shifting timeline. But hey, nonsensical complexity is half of what makes time travel stories fun, am I right?
I'd be up for a Hotline Miami style RP if possible.
On a bit of a Groundhog Day kick, so if ever anyone reads this: An RP where characters looping through "Groundhog Day" Loop stories get given a door where they can go into a neutral room, and visit one another's looping worlds. Hell, could mix this with my earlier time traveller idea, I dunno...
Likely as a result of playing Shadow of Mordor I kinda wanna see something set in Middle-Earth? No idea how that would be set up, though.
I'd definitely be down for some Middle-Earth stuff. Also in that vein, I don't believe we've ever had a Game of Thrones RP yet
"You're an enemy of art and I pity your ignorance" - Domingo Montoya Help save the rainforest for free simply by going to Ecosia.org.First post of the game, everyone rolls 1d100. If you roll 60 or lower, you died already. Roll 1d6 to see how.
1. You were too honest, and got yourself killed.
2. You tried to rob the wrong badass.
3. The faceless men were sent after you for reasons the world will probably never know.
4. Dany was an irresponsible pet owner again.
5. White Walkers got you. You died scared, cold, and alone.
6. God damned Lannisters!

It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve.I'm down if you're down . I suppose we'll have to implement a "if no ones died in three pages, pick somebody to" rule?
"You're an enemy of art and I pity your ignorance" - Domingo Montoya Help save the rainforest for free simply by going to Ecosia.org.I was mostly joking, but come to think of it... What if someone served as a GM that comes up with a storyline, and another person (I'd be more than happy to serve in this role) acted almost as a sort of grim reaper, having no presence in the RP as far as characters go, but making decisions about whether a person dies in a given scenario.
Without having as much of a presence in the RP as a normal GM, this "reaper" would be less likely to develop sentimental attachments, and more likely to act as the sort of apathetic, wanton hand of fate.
I feel like a sadist for suggesting this, but given how I'm basically expecting our friend in the North to die again for no other reason than George R. R. Martin is exactly the type of dick to try to squeeze two heartbreaks out of one character... it would definitely be fitting.
It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve. It sounds good although maybe the random events shouldn't lead to death and instead, the characters' choices should. Like you would determine if that homeless guy my character snubbed was actually a Brother Without Banners and wants to kill me now or not? I'd offer to GM but my last couple of games didn't go great and schools about to start back up for me.
"You're an enemy of art and I pity your ignorance" - Domingo Montoya Help save the rainforest for free simply by going to Ecosia.org.And no rape. Or at the very least no first-person rape.
That's the basic idea. I wouldn't want it to be like "well, you walked near a tree, so it falls over and kills you." That'd be boring for everyone.
I'm pretty sure that's just something TV Tropes doesn't allow, period. At the very least, I've never been part of or borne witness to any rp's here having that... but given the source material, I understand your concerns.
It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve. No, I'm sure they wouldn't allow it. And I'd be into a Go T game too.
Have I mentioned here that I'd be into a Who Framed Roger Rabbit-based RP?
How would that work? I'm curious.
Some kind of mystery to solve. Humans and toons as characters. Might be just similar in general concept with an original setting, or it could be based more directly on the movie with Roger, Eddie, Jessica, etc. being involved.
Neat concept. Did you know there was a Roger Rabbit book set after the film? It's..a weird one. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_Censored_Roger_Rabbit%3F
Set after the film... I... It clearly says it was adapted into the film and came 7 years before!
The flow of time is convoluted here in Lordran.
It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve. The first book was adapted (very loosely) into the movie. But there were two more books that were made after the movie and tried to stick closer to that version of the universe, apart from keeping in stuff like the toons talking in speech bubbles.
Yes, you're quite right. I conflated the other books into that one-I do see now that it was mixed into the movie script.
Mistakes happen
What about some sort of sandbox survival game, set in a giant monster infested city? The players would have to scavenge for supplies, either form alliances or terrorize other players, all while avoiding the creatures.
Just a random idea that popped into my head. Maybe this already exists.
borkYeah, that'd be a cool idea, I'd be in
"One may feel fear in the face of danger so long as one banishes fear when danger actually arrives"I'd recently thought a bit about Zoids, and kinda want to participate in an RP themed after it, although considering I'm still not all too confident in my GM ability I'd rather be a player for now, anyone willnig to GM this?

I think my last idea got lost amidst the interest for a Star Wars game (either that or no one here likes Godzilla), so just in case here it is again:
The humans/human-sized aliens might or might not have powers (Final Wars) to reflect their kaiju, though the monsters themselves should do the majority of the fighting. The humans are essentially just there to allow the players to interact socially.
I'm getting desperate to write again so I may go ahead and GM this myself if no one else can. I just have no idea how I'd do it.
