My productivity schedule is schizophrenic. Sometimes it happens at 2300. Sometimes it happens at 0815. Sometimes it happens at 1533 and etc.
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."I write when I feel like it, but I've noticed that comfort is a necessity.
Since my comfy, leather, chair self destructed I've been using a really depressing aluminium one, and I just can't sit still long enough to write more than a few sentences.
I write stuff sometimes. I also sometimes make youtube videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/majormarksAbout a day before the deadline.
I feel that I am most productive when I have the urge or the desire to write. By that I mean if I come across an idea that I really would like to put into my story or I see something or play something that inspires me to put pen to paper. For example when I heard about the idea of rapists leaving baby seats by the side of the road in the hope of someone pulling over I knew that was something that I wanted to address so I would write something about it in my story. When I discovered Dead Island and the details revolving around it (having seen the trailer in passing but only recently taken it in) I knew I was really uncomfortable about it and so I made this a character trait of one of the characters I use. If I'm playing a game that has Character Customization and that character becomes awesome, taking away the superpowers I put Jessie in Saints Row 4 and I really like how she came across (I quite liked Viola as well and thought she was a good model to modify and expand another character, not copy the idea but more character growth) and based on that I would write more.
Of course I always do want to write. I really would like to finish the novel, I would like to get it published and hope that it would be something that others would like. But there are times when it's less about writing to try and get the project finished and more because I think this is a really good way to add to the story or because I want to really connect with the characters and the setting.
Currently reading up My Rule Fu Is Stronger than YoursAfter drinking too much caffeine. Most of the time, a can of Monster helps me, but I started to consume it in unhealthy measures.
When I should be doing homework.
"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."Hey, me too.
Other than that, I've found I'm most comfortable writing either early in the morning, or later in the evening. Somehow if I try it in the middle of the day nothing seems to flow.
Nobody wants to be a pawn in the game of life. What they don't realize is the game of life is Minesweeper. When I'm extremely sad or angry. What this says about me, I don't know.
This is probably something that a lot of people agree with/do in their own right, but I suspect I'm at my most productive when I've got just the right song playing. The right custom soundtrack — or barring that, a Word file with links to songs — makes a world of difference for me. Of course, that just makes me more likely to get distracted by other internet attractions. Curse Matt and Pat for their super-hype videos!
Beyond that, I seem to do best when it's warm (at least indoors, if the harsh winter has set in) and at night. I've never been one for the cold, but even the slightest breeze on my arm from the AC or a fan is enough to distract me. I guess I've just got a weak constitution or something — or maybe the heat helps me focus. Get "heated up", in a literal sense.
As for nighttime writing...no clue on that one. I guess it's to fulfill my subconscious desire to become a horned owl by whatever means possible.
My Wattpad — A haven for delightful degeneracyWhen I have an audience. Or at least, I assume that's why I write more when it's for tabletops and larp, sooner gratification...
Read my stories!I'm most productive after I get about the first 200 words out for the day.
A few hours after I get up.
When do you find yourself more productive at writing than usual?
- When the Internet's dead.
- When I should be doing other things.
- Especially if those "other things" are sleeping.
- An hour before the deadline.
Some of those are more serious than others.
Are you productive all the time?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Is there only a certain time of day that you can write?
Probably, but I don't know when it is yet.
What are the conditions that suit your writing?
Vocaloid music playing. Ice cubes to suck on in the summer. The door of my room closed. After I run through the scenario in my head at least once.

My name is Susan.I was The Thnikkaman, but then my cookies were borked and I forgot my password. It happens at random for me.
Sometime around 4 am or so
Oh really when?Often when I'm bored or in a creative mood.
I could create a whole One Note Section of content for an idea I have without a sweat, in the middle of class (which I have before)
I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can. After watching/reading a very interesting story, or on Sunday evenings.
As comedic as it sounds, I've found - much to my frustration - that I seem to come up with my best writings when I'm sitting on the toilet; with little to no retention time thereafter.
Anyone else have that problem? Namely that their most creative times are times when writing is inconvenient/impractical to do? How do you solve this?
A few days after I've come up with an idea, and I finally start to let it pour out. I've written a 12 page script in a comparatively short time, for me. Unfortunately, it's never enough to finish.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged Men3 AM local time.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableWhen I need sleep, oddly enough.
RISEI'm like that too. I find that I can write more (not necessarily better) when I should be going to sleep.
I'm most productive at:
- 9pm-12am
- When I should be working on homework.
- If I am working on homework, it's usually a day or two before the deadline.
My main problem is that I'm a night owl who's very unsuited to the US school system of learning. All those "essay/project is due next month/week" assignments in high school just turned me into a HUGE procrastinator.
Simple question: When do you find yourself more productive at writing than usual? Are you productive all the time? Is there only a certain time of day that you can write? What are the conditions that suit your writing?
For myself, I'm most productive at 11 PM to 2/2:30 AM, when there's no noise and I'm forcing myself to stay awake when I should be asleep.
What about you guys, girls and non-binaries?
Note to self: Pick less edgy username next time.
