The box is obviously a reference to Cheerios, making it a Bland-Name Product (which already has much better image). Can we find something that fits the supertrope (made-up brand name in general) better?

Unfortunately images of RL products are not as easy to GIS as you'd think because, well, even generic brands are still brand names (often the store/company name). Images from actual fiction would be better, but that's not an easy thing to GIS either.

I think the image is fine. Brand X means it doesn't have a brand, as in, it's generic. "O's" tends to be a common category of names for cereals, and it not just limited to Cheerios. Sure, they're the most well-known but they don't own the O. Considering that the image is lampshading the generic aspect, which is what this trope is about, Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

I have no issue with the current, but if someone can get a good screencap from a Food Network show like Good Eats where the labels have been blanked out or done over with a fake label, that would work better.

When I want a breakfast cereal of rings of oats, I can either get Cheerios, or get a generic store brand. "Cheerful O's" or "Merry O's" would be a Bland-Name Product. "Generic O's" is a Brand X.

When I look at "Generic O's", I think of Cheerios, because it is the dominant brand in its market. Also, "Generic" sounds like General Mills, the manufacturer of Cheerios. I would prefer an image that is not so close to a real brand. I support keeping the "Generic O's" image until someone finds a better image.

Just putting this one out, might not be much good but I think it conveys somewhat what we want... [1]

I like treelo's suggestion, but think it would work better with just the left half.

Yeah, I didn't create it so left half is good to me too.

Not enough consensus for 10; locking up. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
