After some wick cleaning, I'm thinking that we need a disambiguation for Mommy Issues
and Daddy Issues
rather than merely a redirect to Freudian Excuse
. The description
for this trope was a duplicate for Freudian Excuse
, but the wicks
support a bunch of different meanings.
"Mommy/Daddy issues" is a very vague term and is used for things as varied as "villain with an abusive childhood
", "non-villain with an abusive childhood" (FE trope drift; we do have Abusive Parents
already), any of the tropes in the Parental Issues
index, "mother is a literal villain
", "character has a volatile relationship with their parent" (too vague to be tropable, me thinks), "Oedipus Complex
", "being The Unfavorite
in the parent's eyes", "being coddled by the parent
". I don't see any established way the trope was used—it's all over the map.
