Wow, what a shocker. The way he keeps going on about his work ethic, I'll be surprised if he this series makes it to even 150 chapters. At this point, UQ Holder will probably be his last series to boot, which is just fucking depressing.
We shouldn't expect intensive work ethics from someone who is pals with Kentaro Miura.
My sole consolation on this is he'll never get to be a successful editor.
Togashi must be proud.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. And the writer from High School Of The Dead (the artits, sorry, artist gets a pass since he's working on Triage X now. It was his brother, the writer, who kept HSOTD so slow).
The most annoying part is he jokes about it. If he at least admitted it but had the decency of being honestly sorry that's all he can give, it wouldn't be grating, but he has the galls to flaunt it instead.

EDIT: On the second thought, this isn't a very wise thing to say.

Not wise, perhaps, but honest and true.

Ah, yes, him.
You know, I dropped the manga a while ago. How is it now? Did it (somehow) get worse?
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I wouldn't even be mad: everyone has different drawing speed after all. But does he have to sound so damn cheerful about it?
He has seen he can write shit without having to care about the quality anymore and the lemmings will still keep feeding his pockets as long as they get splashy dumb fights and an idiot to live their power fantasies through. He has motives to be cheerful. He has joined the ranks of Kishimoto and Kubo.

Wait...Kishimoto...Kubo...AKamatsu...
K be the evil letter, man.
Except Hiromu Arakawa.

Yeah, but she never had much luck in life. I heard that she had to live under the bridge for some time.

He doesn't even do fanservice anymore, actually. Since Karin's shower scene, all we've had is Gagahime in that ridiculous Fetish Retardant outfit. By this point Negima and Hina would have had like four memorable fanservice instances each.
Koshi Rikdo and Kumeta Koji rarely disappoint. Don't diss the K.

What about Hata Kenjiro? He sounds like a pretty cool guy to me.
Rumiko Takashi and Kinoko Nasu have their ups and downs, but generally they're solid enough.
Fujishima Kosuke, on the other hand, lost all my respect long ago.
Bleh, by this point Hayate is like a long stale trolling gag that should have been put out of its misery years ago.

I would say "K" seems to be a common letter amongst the Japanese....but that would imply letters to begin with. /rimshot
Anyway, ANB has Ch. 48 spoilers, which are currently reduced to a minimal cryptic untranslated mess. If anyone wants to take a shot or something, there you go.
I was mostly being facetious about the K thing.
Hayate? That shit is still going on?
Is no mangaka capable of giving his/her manga a decent ending at decent timing nowadays? Apparently TWGOK had a passable ending, but not sure about that either.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. The last manga I can remember with a good ending at the right time was Zetsubou Sensei.
TWGOK... it could have been worse, but it also could have been much, much better. The series had been in a slump for a while before that anyway.
What's that, you say? An opportunity to shill Fullmetal Alchemist and The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer? Don't mind if I do.
As far as I'm aware, yeah, Hayate is still going on. Yeesh.
@Watchtower: I was going to mention it, but given that most Hata had to say about it doesn't amount to much (Beyond continuined speculation that shark-teeth is not the killer), didn't really bother with it. And ANB's comments continue to creep me out, so there's that. For a guy that claims he doesn't like fan service, he's awfully creepy about it when it comes to Kuro and Santa...

I considered FMA, but I think it ended too 'long' ago to count for what Roy was asking about.
I'd like to say Jojos Bizarre Adventure, but I don't know if that's cheating or not. The very nature of the "parts" means it can keep going and have many endings at once. Beelzebub's ending was also alright, but very clearly rushed.
And Hayate The Combat Butler seems to be in the same state as Gintama, maintaining a balance of parody and plot to apparently self-sustain itself. Or, at least, I think so. Haven't really been following it that much.
The quality is still the same, but it has fallen into repetition with no sign of changing anytime soon.

Hata released a chapter called "This is the kind of manga you are reading" where side characters repeatedly call the main character to interrupt the plot from actually continuing. How can I hate it for not getting anywhere when the author laughs at me for expecting progress? But really, whether or not Hayate should still be going or is any good, I still think Hata sounds like a cool guy. Sorta like how Oda seems like he'd be fun and a pretty nice guy or whatever even though I hate One Piece.
TWGOK could have used a few more chapters to wrap things up properly, but it was okay. I suppose I only have two real complaints about it: It foreshadowed the thing with Elsie terribly and Haqua forgetting she had a friend named Elsie was kind of irritating.
How can I hate it for not getting anywhere when the author laughs at me for expecting progress?
More easily than I would hate it if he wasn't rubbing it on my face?
Akamatsu did draw the color opening page (the one with Naru and Shinobu in towels), though.
