The Nut Job

Heh. It doesn't really surprise me that the trailers made this movie look a lot worse than what it is, but it just doesn't look like a movie I would enjoy. The designs of the squirrels don't look too bad though.

Liam Neeson was pretty good, I bet he'll really have acting chops in The Lego Movie.

Question for anyone who's seen both films: is this better or worse than Free Birds?

In my opinion, they are both on the same level: okay, but not great. They're not the best animated films I've seen, but they're certainly not the worst either.

I liked both. Even more than Frozen.

Finally saw it today. I don't get the complaints about the characters being unlikeable. It at least felt like SOME effort was being put into it to not make it too rote. Not mindblowing, but all around pretty darn solid. Straight up "B" from me.

I'm impressed how this Korean production came across as American, especially in the time period the film is set in.

Nope, Korean. Hence Psy being in the credits. It was a deal for the American producers.

Korea agreed to fund part of the film's budget. Apparently, The Nut Job is the first in an anticipated many future animated film set to be funded this way/

So this came out on DVD last week and no one noticed. I kinda had a feeling it'd fall off the radar fast. Even if I liked it.

I mean, come on. Yeah, it's flawed, and it'll never get mistaken for a Pixar film, but it's far from awful.

I noticed and saw the commercials. I just didn't care enough to post about it.

You know, if something is terrible, the best thing one can do is ignore it even exists and don't give it the time or energy it needs to thrive. That way, no one pays attention to it and it dies like it deserves.

But what do I know, right?

I dunno, I've seen other people who liked this besides me.

I liked it enough that I'll see the sequel but not so much to own it.

I dunno why I didn't think of torrenting it. Still, it's my $17, and part of me likes having DVDs.

That comment gave me a very oxymoronic thought. A movie not made to sell out.

Though given how unprofitable the movie Sausage Party is sounding, I'll retract my statement as it possible for a movie to not sell out (it just have to be shit).
