Never bet on Ikki also overides Never bet on DBZ.
Though, if Salty DBZ, always bet on DBZ.

I feel that this needs a works page. Also, what does it mean when people are talking about Mexico, and Mexicans?
- And another rule: Never bet on Naruto characters. Particularly ones with no animation and MS Paint sprites.

100% more pronounceable then the leading brand!I must say that I love the MEXIBEAMS meme.
Even though the SSJ Characters are speaking Brazillian Portugese.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceWhat's all this stuff about real and fake? Also, where it says Chat: Stream|Salty|Off, what's salty supposed to do?

Pipping Fool explained fake characters in her post. I don't know about the different chats, though. Salty doesn't seem to have anything.
100% more pronounceable then the leading brand! Most Saltybetters use FAKE as an insult. REAL means Top Shit/Good characters.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceDon't forget:
-It's Kohaku, someone call Kotaku! and [Character/Waifu/ect.] STRONK!

You have to be a member of the Salty Illuminati.
Which leads to some funny chat moments (FUCKING ILLUMINATI CONTROLLING EVERYTHING)
I'm having to learn to pay the priceThis has inspired me to actually try MUGEN. Is there somewhere I can download a whole bunch of characters and stages in one big .zip?
Ah.
Quite a few of the SSJ and other DBZ characters were ripped from the Brazillian versions of the games. Because All Latino's are Mexican, it was adapted into Mexico related jabs and MEXIBEAMS.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceSo dudes, are we making a page on this exciting phenomenon?
It could be in Web Original or something.
My Deviant Art account. There might be art there. Sometimes. We should gather tropes for the page first.
- Rule of Cool : The whole purpose of Salty Bets was to see what awesome, batshit insanity could possibly happen today
- Bribing Your Way to Victory: While the actual betting uses fictional e-money. If you pay to become a member of the Salty Illuminati, you are able to see the odd sheets for the fighters.
- Just One More Level!: Once you start Salty Bets, you won't stop until you've seen enough crazy for the day.
- Fountain of Memes : The Salty Bets chat spews many memorable lines and injokes
- Fan of Underdog : Can happen if you bet on a character with the odds stacked against them that could result in a massive payout.
- Care-Bear Stare: Barney the Dinosuar has an instagib love beam
- Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny : Literally character combo that can happen, will happen. (As long as the characters are in the MUGEN system)
- Curb-Stomp Battle : What a majority of the battles are (especially before autobalance). Especially with characters like Rare Akuma and Barney the Dinosaur

I'm having to learn to pay the priceI'm thinking that there could also be a little terminology list somewhere, maybe in the trivia tab.
100% more pronounceable then the leading brand!I think the terminology list can be in YMMV and memetic mutation?
Speaking of which, here's the Memes and "terms" I know from the chat:
- Aaaaaaaaaaaaa! - Explanation: There is a Saint Seiya mugen character inexplicably named "Yuri di aaaaaa". When he appears, the chat tends to burst into Kiais.
- Mistakes were made - It's more on after seeing the odds and/or Round 1, someone realizes they just bet on the underdog, rather than at the point of the loss.
- My Steaks Were Made - A Mondegreen of the above.
- REAL MATCH - It's usually odds-based. So... When the odds seem pretty close, probably less than 2:1.
- CANON MATCH - When two characters from the same series meet.
- Never believe the chat! - Because they usually lie and give out Red Herrings and make people bet on the underdog.
More tropes:
- Dark Horse Victory: Upsets are surprisingly common.
- Anti-Frustration Features: You are left with at least $10 when you lose everything. The minimum amount increases the more you play.
- Tier Induced Scrappy: Due to the way Salty Bets work, the best way to "get better" at judging characters is to create your own tier list.
- Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: It used to be that the name of the fighters are shown in text form in the betting menu. This was removed and changed to "Player 1" and "Player 2" for all matches because some people were already using bots to bet automatically.
EDIT: this may be more for Mugen's page than Salty's:
- Lethal Joke Character/Killer Rabbit: Some of the characters with lower-quality art or cuetsy art style may actually be SNK Bosses.
- Tier Induced Scrappy: A lot of low tiers, because many mugen character makers are lazy and do not give their characters decent AI.
- On the other side, some characters are created to be the most broken SNK Bosses possible. Note that most MUGEN characters are free game to be on Salty Bet's character rotation unless they are completely unbeatable (like no hitbox at all) or crash the game.

My Deviant Art account. There might be art there. Sometimes.More memes:
- Darude - Sandstorm: The standard answer to the question "What is the music playing right now?" (Sandstorm by Darude comes up inordinately often on the background radio)
- Mexican/Mexibeam/Mexihealth/Mexidamage: This has already been mentioned. Basically, a lot of characters that have been ripped from Brazilian/Mexican sites are completely overpowered or have wonky, hard to hit hitboxes. Mexihealth denotes a character whose health is ridiculously high, Mexidamage a character with similarly high damage on their basic attacks and a Mexibeam is a beam attack (usually a Kamehame Hadoken) that takes off most/all of an opponent's lifebar in one hit.
- Always bet on Hitbox!: Since there are so many different characters on the roster, it's inevitable that some of them are going to be smaller than the others, making them hard to hit by attacks designed with larger sprites in mind. Thus, in a matchup between characters with significant size differences, it's usually safe to bet on the smaller one.
- TIMER SCAM/TERRORISTS WIN: Winning a round by timing out with higher damage is called Timer Scamming in Salty's version of MUGEN and the "Terrorists Win!" soundbite from Counter Strike plays when it happens. There are characters designed with timer scamming in mind and the chat usually erupts in copypastes of these two phrases when one of them is chosen for a match.
- THERE ARE NO FAKE AKUMAS: Almost every Akuma clone in the game is at least high-tier, even the badly done ones, thus they are usually safe bets unless their opponent is known to be top- or god-tier.
Also, I have come to believe that the best matches to watch are the most ridiculous ones. I have been witness to only two matches today that actually made me physically hurt from laughing too much, and they were, in order:
Li Sheng Long (heals himself) vs Leonardo (copters out of the arena to timer scam)
and
The Nightmare (a bad Broly clone that heals himself when charging, has only one normal attack and two specials that hurt himself instead of the opponent when used) vs Black Manta (who does literally no damage whatsoever).

The last match that made me laugh was the last match I saw involving Altered Amiba, AKA Jazz Hands. No words can describe it.
And some more terminology junk.
I think that calling something about a character "Mexican" basically means "This character has ridiculously high stats/a ridiculously powerful move in order to make up for its braindead AI." I guess the Brazilian SSJ 4 characters were numerous enough for people to start noticing a pattern with them all.
"CRIPPLE FIGHT!": Used when two truly awful characters are matched up.

100% more pronounceable then the leading brand! The biggest upset I ever saw was Dio di Musca (Saint Seiya character) vs. Etrigan. It's on my imgur but I don't have a link since I'm at work. It's like 30k vs 1.3M.
Honestly most matches tend to amuse me, especially one sided ones or upsets. I tend to get tense if it's close, though.
If we're gonna make the Salty Bets page, does anyone have the history of Salty Bets? That would make a great addition. I think we may have enough to start it, since in my experience, Marvel Heroes had about 10-15 tropes for a long time on its main, a YMMV of 3 items, though with a huge voice actor-related trivia section.
We can link to it from Fighting Game Community in some way so we have at least 1 wick.
My Deviant Art account. There might be art there. Sometimes.
My friends know about the history of Saltybets, I can inquire them about it.
Also, funny side-note, but 2 nights ago my TF 2 server that I admin had a heavy boxing match. My friend and fellow admin was in charge of DJ (He played random songs during the matches, but Darude-Sandstorm came up a lot) and the chat was filled with Saltybets references.
One person even was "Rare Akuma" and "Omega Tiger Woods"
I'm having to learn to pay the priceI can't believe there's actually a Wimp Fight trope for the CRIPPLE FIGHT!
A.I. Roulette: Salty Bets is basically all about praying that the character you bet on chooses (or spams) the correct moves to beat the opponent, especially in a close fight.

Search up "mugen character packs" and "mugen stage packs"
Making a MUGEN game is pretty complicated but it def pays off in the end; just be prepared to search up a lot of stuff.
my drawing blog ya'll UPDATES 10 TIMES A MONTH WOW, THIS IS STRAIGHT UP MUH SOGGY KNEE
Since I have discovered this site, my life has never been greater
For those who don't know, Salty Bets is a 24/7 MUNGEN simulator that pits two randomly chosen characters on the MUNGEN system together. If you sign in, you can bet fake Saltybucks on who you think would win.
The system is set up o that the one that gets the better odds has a higher chance of winning. However, that isn't always binding, and you can easily go back into the Saltmines (Lowest Possible Amount of Saltybucks one can have (10 IIRC) ) if you go all in on a character with a bad AI. With over 16,000 MUNGEN characters on the roster (most of which are DBZ)
Of course there are some in-jokes regarding Saltybets. Those regarding betting being:
- Never/Always bet on DBZ
- Always bet on Waifu/Tits
- Always bet on cards
- Always bet on sword guy
- Go all in on Rare Akuma and Barney the Dinosaur
andThere are also jokes ragarding the fight itself.
Stay Salty everyone.
