Because why not?

As TGWTG fans know, this site currently hosts videos from the Nostalgia Chick, Vampire Reviews, Todd in the Shadows, Brows Held High and Paw's Music Movies show, but it also hosts shows from non Channel Awesome affiliated producers, such as Needs More Gay with Rantasmo, Stuff You Like with Sursum Ursa, The Bunny Perspective with Phil Bunny, and Folding Ideas with the Foldable Human, and I felt that maybe we should have a space to talk about all of them or some of them, since some of the contributors don't get mentioned a lot in other threads on the forums.

So anyway, if anybody watched the shows and wants to comment on them, you can go ahead.

I can't have you close, so I become a ghost and I watch you, I watch you.

I've never understood the name. What is a Chez, and the Apocalypse part only about the website coming out after the Mayan Doomsday?

A Chez (pronounced Shay) is house. Like, you get restaurants named Chez Tony for example, basically means Tony's House.

And it was a joke name for a former apartment Lindsay had.

Watch this. The People v. Clark Kent by Foldable Human.

He makes one mistake RE SHIELD, but honestly the issue of SHIELD's oversight, authority, and jurisdiction were confusing enough that the US Department of Defense couldn't figure it out (and that's why it wasn't Backed by the Pentagon). And the WSC being dumbasses still reflects current trends of institutionalized power being ineffective to downright malicious, whereas only breaking protocol and engaging in vigilante justice can save the day.

In a weird way we're kinda going through a similar trend that we had during the 90's, with the heroes having to be all gritty and cynical, and get things done no matter the cost, and that would be fine if it at least it was aknowledged and discussed within the stories, or in this case within the movies, but it's pushed aside, they want to the stories to feel realistic but don't want to deal with the implications and ramifications of the choices the characters make, and I think that's a lot more noticeable with the DC movies, since they want to set a more serious tone, rather than the Marvel ones, since those tend to be a little more campy.

Well, we might as well use this thread for something:

From Con Bravo, featuring Lindsay, Foldy, and Oancitizen. It's an hour long, but it has some really interesting insights on the purpose of cliches and the changing film industry. Give it a listen while you're surfing.

And heed their advice to "let yourself suck".

[up][up] This was really good. I wish I was there. And I do hope that Hollywood experiences another great crash as more and more money is funneled into fewer and fewer "sure hit" movies. The aftermath would surely feature much sparer, cleverly constructed films. Whether or not Hollywood will actually experience this great crash is another matter, being anchored around the MCU. Maybe if the DCU fails.

Dan, aka The Foldable Human, made a follow up of his video of The People vs. Clark Kent.

While I think his previous video had plenty of good points (the Bat-surveillance of The Dark Knight and partial approval of it sure hits worse after the NSA incident), sometimes it felt like he was taking things too seriously (how do you get the Hulk to worry about collateral damage?)

[up] Which is a wonderful argument for why the Hulk could never be considered a hero. The most heroic thing that Bruce Banner could do, if he is unable to control his power, is to end his own life.

I read an intriguing article which claims that MoS was a stealth deconstruction of the Superman myth, and precedent which will lead to grittier interpretations of a shrink-wrapped and sacrosanct character. Can't say I entirely disagree with that outcome.

That's an amazing eyeshadow.

Anyway, I didn't really grew up with The Adams tv show, but I do remember the movies, the second more than the first, and yeah the 90's there was this whole thing of adaptating old tv shows into movies, though not as full blown like it is now. Maybe it's true that storytellers tell the stories they liked to hear when they were children, that and the cashgrabm though it's not longer a guarantee.

[up] Yeah, I did forget about that. That was another thing, there where lots of cartoon adaptations from those 90's movies, there was even an Ace Ventura cartoon.

And the video games. Oy vey.

Though I did like the SNES / Genny platformer with a super deformed Gomez. I picked it up again yesterday, and my god. I used to beat in the space of an hour. Now I can't get past the first few screens. (Getting old and senile?)

The Addams Family movies are some of my favorite movies ever. I'm terrified of what she'll think of the sequel, since I adore The Addams Family Values, mostly for the summer camp subplot.
