It's not great so let's look for a new one, but it's not worth pulling.
It does have the thought bubble which is something. And, while it is a blob, it's human shaped and it manages to seem like it's suffering, and seems to have no means of communication (made explicit by the thought bubble).
Not perfect by any stretch, but not worth pulling, IMO.

Spark, you've been asked before to provide a suggestion when you make a thread about pulling a page image. In fact, We've been asking that any IP thread about changing a page image for any of the reasons that aren't on the insta-pull list include at least one suggestion in the OP. If you think a page image is bad enough to need replacing, it's only polite to actually put a little effort into finding something you think is better.

Sorry Maddy, but according to the IP rules
, JAFAAC is listed under "valid reasons to start a thread", and that page says nothing about mandatory suggestions for replacement. I see similar threads like these quite often without complaints from anyone; they generally result in decent discussion, and IP is not particularly overloaded or backlogged these days. So I'm really not sure why you have a problem with this thread.

It's the third thread you've made in two days (two within a half-an-hour of each other this morning) with no suggestion. And the Just A Face And A Caption page itself says that a picture can be just "a face, and a caption," without being Just A Face And A Caption.
Someone looking at the current page image does not need to know what the work it's from is, before they can see how it illustrates the trope.

People can legitimately disagree about whether an image is JAFAAC or not. I am simply unaware of any Image Pickin' policy that says "you must provide an alternative image when you claim a JAFAAC" or one that says "you may only create X threads per week". If that is to be policy now, all I ask is that you add it to the policy thread and apply it equally to all participants in this forum.

The current image is not a JAFAAC (people keep Flanderizing that term these days), however I do agree that in its current state it is easily a Does Not Illustrate. IIRC the uncropped version of the same image actually better explains what makes it an example (via more speech/thought bubbles detailing the character's particular fate), however it was large enough that the text is illegible after resizing.
Also for the note: Previous attempts were in November 2010 and February 2011. Both of them were complaining about the exact same image for the exact same reason (so Spark makes three).
I say this deserves discussion of an alternatives, because the Trope Namer is doing it no favors here.

I very much like this image, the figure is evocative of the famous "The Scream" painting and looks absolutely pained.
Not discounting there may be better suggestions, I'm on the Keep Until Better Image Suggested end of things on this one.

Also in favor of keeping. There have been complaints, showing that it's not a perfect image, but nobody can come up with anything better. I maintain that it's still way better than nothing, so I object to any pulling without replacement.

Well, just a blob and a caption, really. The caption says it's this trope but without the caption you'd have no way of knowing that, it's just a formless blob. Motion to pull as JABAAC.
