Here's the thread for the Anime of Hiromu Arakawa's Silver Spoon.
Please keep all spoilers from the manga out of this thread, or if you absolutely must mention something, spoiler-tag and flag it.
If you want to discuss the manga, the thread for that is here. Discussion comparing the way something was handled in the anime with how it was handled in the manga can go in either thread, depending on where you think it fits better.

Does that mean there are a lot of spoilers in the manga that will ruin the experience of the anime?
Anyway, episode 1. In which basic biology of birds isn't taught before high school.
A few extreme and very sheltered reactions, but otherwise shows some promise.
Check out my fanfiction! No, not really. There are only two or three things that are really worth spoiler tagging.
Also, I only knew what a cloaca was from my own undirected reading. I think it's quite reasonable for him to not know anything about it.
There are a number of "Ooooh, didn't see that coming!" moments in the manga. They aren't, for the most part, huge spoilers, but depending on how the anime is divided up into episodes, they could easily be enough of a spoiler to take some of the fun out of it for the anime-first or anime-only people.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Well, you learn different things in different schools, I suppose. I learned it two or three grades before our equivalence of high school. I just found it funny since my teacher very emphatically mentioned that little detail.
And while it may be a little early, how do the anime and manga compare? Worth reading it?

Check out my fanfiction!I knew about cloaca because I researched way too much about dinosaurs as a kid.
The anime and the manga are basically the same so far.

Look, I knew chickens layed eggs. So I wasn't shocked by the depiction. However I had never heard of the cloaca before this show/manga.
Of course, I took took the Physics and Chemistry route instead of Biology in school, so that's probably why.
I'm not really sure why it matters when they have shells though.
My first thought watching this was "Is the Author Avatar still a cow?"
Yeah....
Shells that you clean.
Check out my fanfiction! My first thought watching this was "Is the Author Avatar still a cow?"
Yep. Arakawa grew up in Hokkaido, so it's natural she knows this subject.

That's also a reason I'm watching it in the first place. My uncle had a small farm, so I've dealt with a bunch of farm animals (mostly cows). And it was my first time driving a motorised vehicle, at the age of 13 or so.
Check out my fanfiction!"This is a Manga-spoiler-free zone"
Heh. Good luck with that.
Izaak, if you think abiding by that will give you problems, please don't post here.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I learned it in Elementary school in the third grade as part of sex ed we were looking at the reproductive anatomy of various species.
But yeah this looks like some decent slice of life.
Saw that at last! And my impression is… meh. It doesn't really work to me. Sure, technically it is flawless but how can I say… it is too flawless, in a sense. The gags in the manga rely a lot on Mood Whiplash, beats, exagerated expressions, and repeated panels. And all of that doesn't really translate well with the anime's smooth pace. The music seemed to suffer the same issue.
Yūgo sounds way too deep and serious too. I didn't really imagine his voice like that. I keep thinking that Kappei Yamaguchi would have been perfect in the role.
I'll probably watch the next episode, but for now it's not really effective.

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.I thought that post was basically, "It's not the manga, so it's meh." So, I read the first few chapters of the manga to check what the differences were, and my conclusion is... pretty much unchanged, other than that I found pretty much all of those details handled better in the anime. The anime's flow makes for a smoother story, and less choppy than the manga.
Also, I'm unable to read the phrase "on a horse" without hearing it as this.

Check out my fanfiction! You shouldn't. I simply think the gags don't work as well. But apparently it depends greatly on which version you watched first…
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.I read the manga first and I think the anime's doing fine. I don't get that mentality unless there's a clear difference in quality like with Fruits Basket, and even that did the important scenes well (I'm not just saying this out of bias, I swear).

Episode 2. In which there's horsing around.
I've never really understood that it's hard to get up early. I mean, sure, if you're always up late it's hard to get up early, but if it's something you live with for at least two weeks, the pattern sets, and you do it easily.
One thing I think they've gotten right is the patience of farm people. It's never spelled out, but it's obvious in how they act. I'm not sure there's any group of people with more patience than those who work on farms. Seasoned customer service personnel don't even come close.
Check out my fanfiction!
Not really. Some people can mess with their circadian rhythms like that but some people are natural night owls and others turn in early and rise early.
I speak from experience.
Hachiken makes the best faces. I mean, I knew that from the manga, but animation somehow makes them that much more amusing.
The owner of this account is temporarily unavailable. Please leave your number and call again later.Eh, it's just a matter of motivation and discipline. And not staying up late at night. It's funny how some people complain about not getting enough sleep, but then they're awake some 18 hours anyway.
I mentioned two weeks, because that's about what it takes to change a habit like sleep times. And that's for people who can't just toss their sleep patterns around at will. Some people may have trouble getting to sleep during summers when it's bright for a much longer time, but with the bed curtains they have in this series it shouldn't be a problem. Or getting up during dark winter mornings.
Check out my fanfiction!Oh, no, I assure you. For me it was like five or six weeks and it was unpleasant.
As I said, some people may be able to do it, but not everyone.
Well, most people miss out when they sleep in on weekends. And five weeks isn't unreasonable if you miss out on a few other aspects of habit changing, like motivation. If it's a negative change to your life, it's a whole lot more difficult, which is one reason most people can't stop smoking.
