Telekinetic Powers Romantic Comedy. In four words, I expect a lot of odd looks, but also at least three people who think the tired Romantic Comedy needs a bit of telekinetic shenanigans to spice things up. Think of the adorable possibilities! Like, the two main characters who will fall in love are on a bus or something and they flirt by using their psychic powers to implant mental images of them being cute together, or the girl is flattered that the guy is thinking about her that way and he didn't expect it to be mutual so she starts sending him mental images of her wiggling her butt in short shorts.

Oh, I should probably mention that like a lot of my ideas that attempt to reinvent romantic comedy/bromance tropes, somebody dies on the first page. The main character saves this gay guy from being bashed by what's called a bogan in Australia by the MC giving the bogan an aneurysm and when the cops come along he has to project from his mind exactly what he saw into a Black Box which records testimonies from telekinetics. In a single page, already a world starts to build.

And it's set in Newtown, Sydney of all places. Because I'll be damned if Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright steal all the regional quirky genre comedy thunder.

A minor point: I believe that you're describing telepathy, not telekinesis — the former is the ability to read minds or transfer thoughts, while the latter is the ability to move things with the mind, if I'm not much mistaken.

Otherwise, it sounds potentially interesting. I see the potential for comedic misunderstandings in projecting the wrong thoughts, or accidentally projecting something not intended to be projected (a fantasy about the other person, perhaps) or letting one's mind wander (I could see a projection starting off as a cute fantasy about the pair of them... only to wander off into shaping the fantasy's clouds into amusing shapes), etc. You might also be able to play with the idea of one thought affecting another: a person falling for another might accidentally project the other's face when someone else entirely was intended (which might be especially bad if he or she does so while transferring thoughts into the police receiver that you described...).

I should have mentioned that ESPers in this universe have both telepathy and telekinesis. Maybe even psychokinesis given the whole aneurysm subplot with the guy trying to bash the gay dude and the MC just offs him.
