I've just started it out and it does seem quite interesting to me.
Frenchies shooting everything with G98's was pretty weird anyway. Not to mention no one ever ran outta rifle ammo.

Wow, a World War One game?
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Loving it. A World War One game rendered with modern engines would be something to behold, and now that Spec Ops The Line has showed that "spunkgargleweewee" can be intelligent. Verdun - which was France's Stalingrad - is also an unusual and inspired choice, as most Anglophone contributions tend to focus on the great British offensives at Ypres, the Somme, Arras, Cambrai, Passchendaele, and the Siegfried Line or the American contribution. Verdun, however, was perhaps the decisive battle of the Western war.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiPop-tarting is so often decried by fans of old school FPS but it's actually the smartest thing to do in a relatively hard recreation of trench warfare.
Pop-tarting?

Schild und Schwert der ParteiCrouching behind some form of cover most of the time and only looking over or around it to scout or take shots.
That sounds pretty damn Scruby to me.
That's what you do in cover-based shooters, to be honest.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.It's pretty much completely sensible, why would you want to make getting killed easier?!
Yes please stand out in the open. That's right just like that now. Let us shoot each other in the face. Ha there we go. Good shot you got my liver. Oh smashing I blew out your heart. Bad luck for you though. I think I shall now bleed out and die right here.
Who watches the watchmen?^ Heh.
When I first read the "poptarting" complaint (hadn't heard it before this thread), that was along the lines of my first thoughts on the subject, followed shortly by "this isn't the Thirty Years War, you moron."note
All your safe space are belong to TrumpOutta open beta, now buyable on Steam for release and early access beta.
Got it. I die a lot, but I'm getting better with the German rifle. No idea how to use special abilities or grenades, assuming I even have them.
Desperate for feedback, please visit Troper Page for links! The lights have gone out all over Europe; we shall not see them lit again in our lifetime.
Uh that is, it's out now.
Also here's the cool shit they want to make for it next

This looks and sounds like this one idea I had for a modern military shooter for WWI, specifically how it wouldn't work because all that happened in WWI was sitting in the mud talking shop until you gent sent over the top to your death. But I am pleasantly suprised how well it seems to work. Can't wait for Yahtzee to review it.
We Wear the Mask that grins and lies, it hides our cheeks, is shades our eyes.
It really depends where you fought though. The Eastern theater was far more fluent and included some big battles for key cities though.
Yeah, filmography largely would have you forget it's a World War, not a Muddy Fields War.
I bayonetted a guy with a LMG last game.
Halper's Law: as the length of an online discussion of minority groups increases, the probability of "SJW" or variations being used = 1.The game's pretty fun. Strange that it doesn't have it's own page yet.
That said, it's melee mechanics are HORRIBLE. You cant hit a guy in front of you with your bayonet?!
Also, the Webley Pistol is God. No exceptions.
I hold the secrets of the machine.Narrativeless multiplayer games are generally hard to trope, and a list of gameplay tropes aren't very fun to read or make.
The new patch adds examples of ludicrous gibs, body horror, gas mask mooks, yanks with (not yet but soon) tanks, belgians, and a whole load of new guns.
I can construct the tropes list if it's a bit tedious. BY this point, it deserves mention for being the most realistic thing there.
Also you get points for retreating. As a Frenchman. 10/10 for immersion.

Has anyone played this game? It's a First Person Shooter based on the Battle of Verdun (of course) where you get to play on two-man teams of either French or Germans. Has anyone else played this? It's surprisingly fun to play, and since it's a beta it's free, too.
