This game is a nomic.

Game restarted here.

Wow, this got really, really complicated. I'm not a legal scholar haha. If this is too complicated....just say so. Consider this a first draft. You can get rid of any of the rules except 1, 2 and 17 just by making a rule saying they're gone haha. Just tell me if this seems no fun or makes no sense.

This is a combination of two games I made before, a nomic "Constitution" game, and a game with a secret method of scoring points. As you can tell, I'm weirdly into byzantine legalese despite not studying it.

  1. Every post may either a. Create a new rule by which all posts by players have to follow to participate in the game. b. comment on the game c. ask for score table d. guess the secret challenge e. ask or agree to join or dissolve a party with the consent of one or more other players f. second or third any motion as required by the rules. This rule cannot be overridden by a future rule.
  2. A secret challenge shall be set by the first poster (I who am writing this) that determines exclusively how points are obtained, and is but one way in which they can be lost. This rule may be based on the appearance or number of certain letters or words, or what post number ("#1, #2" etc.) a post has, or any other characteristic. Any post can gain or lose points for its poster or their party. This rule cannot be overridden by a future rule.
  3. Negative scoring is allowed.
  4. The game can be won by a player or party when: all others either forfeit the game or have violated any rule; they have more points than all others combined; all others cannot create any more rules. Additional methods to win the game can be added by proposals, seconded and thirded by other players or parties. Any or all of the initial three methods of winning the game can be changed or removed by unanimous consent of the players and parties: should a new player come in and declare in a comment they do not consent to a change, all changes are voided and the initial three methods for winning the game come back into effect. This would not affect additional win conditions passed. This rule cannot be overridden by a future rule.
  5. Violating a rule means a player (or their party if any) cannot create a rule for 10 turns.
  6. Creating a rule costs at the start 5 points.
  7. The passage of every tenth rule increases the cost of creating a rule by 5 points.
  8. This list of rules must be amended and copied into any post that adds a rule.
  9. If a new rule contradicts an old rule, new rule wins.
  10. The originator of a game's constitution can judge violations of the rules, so can anyone who volunteers to judge when and only whilst given unanimous consent.
  11. When a player or party guesses the secret challenge and is correct, they gain points equal to that of the highest ranked player or party, and only they can then when they choose, come up with a new secret challenge, effective when declared as such in a comment, and at that point they gain a judging role if not already in one.
  12. New players may join in the game at any time.
  13. All players start the game at 50 points.
  14. A post cannot gain more than 25 points from a secret challenge.
  15. The originator of the constitution does not gain or lose points and cannot win the game or join parties, and serves only to judge violations, and count point gains and losses in posts.
  16. Spoiler-bar text is permitted as commentary not bound by the rules, allowed in any post.
  17. Rules can be changed, removed and superseded by subsequent rules. Rules cannot be made unchangeable or unremovable by future rules unless they contain the provision, in exact words, "This rule cannot be overridden by a future rule." This rule is included as containing the provision. To include this provision in a rule, or to add to a previous rule, requires seconding and thirding by subsequent posts, without deadline. A rule including this provision when posted is void until seconded and thirded: a rule attempting to this provision to a previous rule is also void, but the previous rule remains in effect.
  18. Do not spell "its" as "it's" or vice versa.

Am I doing it right? Toyota TS020 rules.~

You both have lost 5 points bringing you to 45 each. One of you gained and lost a point in a challenge, so that cancelled out.

I'm not sure why I made this so complicated looking.

I'll mention the Toyota TS 020, although, hmm, I didn't define if it matters if I violate a rule. I said I wasn't playing for points but I didn't say I couldn't make rules, and the punishment is not being able to make rules for a while. I meant to. You should clarify that...~

So I did, edited for respect of the law.

Thing is, I'm not playing for points or to win. I can judge. What I didn't define is if I can make any more rules (after the ones I've made already) so I can't be punished unless I can make rules.

I'm choosing to interpret it as I can't make any rules, but if you make a rule saying I can, then I'm punished. Toyota TS 020 ~

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

The constitution says "add a new rule", singular. You added two.

Because it would stall the game to a halt at this point to stop you from making rules for 10 posts, I'll allow it and act as if that was two posts. Maybe it's too much to force multiple posts for each rule?.........But I made that rule unchangeable. Hmmmmmmmm. You're at 25 points. Toyota TS 020 ~

Hmm, I wonder if this game is inviting for new players. I made the parties system for them, and also they get the power of invalidating "unanimous consent" judges and changes to the win conditions if they want to.....still, it's probably too complex already and just going to get more so, even if it's becomes too expensive to keep adding rules.

Oh.....I just realized I made it so you lost the game the second you had less points than porsche. If it's only you and porsche, than you have less points than all other players combined......>_>

I knew the win conditions needed more thought on my part.

I'd be willing to, um, ignore that if you want me to.....but it's an unchangeable rule......do you want to start again or for me to fix that and pretend it never had that problem? ;P

I won? Did I win a Toyota TS020?

EDIT: WELL, DID I PUNK?

Can we just say that rule only applies if there are more than 4 players and continue on as is?~

  4. The game can be won by a player or party when: all others either forfeit the game or have violated any rule, they have more points than all others combined, or all others cannot create any more rules. #This would not affect additional win conditions passed.
  18. Do not spell "it's" as "its" or vice versa
  19. All posts must add a mention of the Toyota TS020
  20. All posts must end with a tilde. This rule also applies to past posts.
  21. No future rules may apply to past posts.
  22. As of this law, no one may alter posts in order to to fix a violation
  23. occono is allowed to make new laws
  24. All posts coming after this one, which make reference to the Toyota TS020 must also feature the above posters signature, at the time the new post is being created, copy and pasted into a separate paragraph at the end, immediately before the tilde.~

OK. Porsche wins game #1. :) I'll keep the same secret challenge...I'll call them "laws" from now on.

Constitution Game #2:

0. Every post may either

  • Create one new law, of any length and containing any number of rules and conditions, by which all posts by players have to follow to participate in the game. The Chief Justice may create laws. Any powers not vested to other types of posts must be passed in laws.
  • comment on the game. A comment can have any effects allowed by law or be subject to any law.
  • ask for score table. Only at this point does a point-based win come into effect.
  • guess the secret challenge
  • ask or agree to join or dissolve a party with the consent of one or more other players. A party shares points.
  • second or third a law as required.
This law can only be superseded by a newer law passed under and retaining unanimous consent: if consent is revoked or a new player does not agree, the superseding law is invalidated.

  1. A secret challenge shall be set by the chief justice (I who am writing this) that determines exclusively how points are obtained, and is but one way in which they can be lost. This rule may be based on the appearance or number of certain letters or words, or what post number ("#1, #2" etc.) a post has, or any other characteristic. Any post can gain or lose points for its poster or their party. This law can only be changed by the chief justice or an honorary justice.
  2. Negative scoring is allowed.
  3. The game can be won by a player or party when all others permanently cannot make any new laws, or by whoever is first to earn 100 points as a player or 200 points as a party. A player can only win or lose the game once there are five players (including the chief justice). Adding to, changing or abolishing these win conditions requires a law seconded and thirded.
  4. Violating a law means a player (or their party if any) cannot create a law for 10 turns.
  5. Creating a law costs at the start 5 points.
  6. The passage of every tenth law after the chief justice's founding laws increases the cost of creating a law by 5 points.
  7. This list of laws must be amended and copied into any post that adds a law.
  8. If a new law contradicts an old rule, new law wins.
  9. The chief justice is the player who started the constitution (me, occono). I can judge violations of the rules, so can honorary justices, and anyone who volunteers (a volunteer justice) to judge, the latter when and only whilst given unanimous consent. I shall retain my role in good behaviour.
  10. When a player or party guesses the secret challenge and is correct, they gain 10 points, and also only they can then, when they choose, come up with a new secret challenge, effective when declared as such in a comment, and at that point they gain a judging role if not already in one, as an "honorary justice". They hold this position until their secret challenge is successfully guessed.
  11. New players may join in the game at any time.
  12. All players start the game at 50 points or the same number or points as the lowest scoring player: whichever is higher.
  13. A post cannot gain more than 25 points from a secret challenge.
  14. Justices (Chief, Honorary and Volunteer) do not gain or lose points and cannot win the game or join parties. They serve and are empowered only to judge violations, create laws, and count point gains and losses in posts if they are administering the secret challenge. They retain their points which come back into effect if they leave their judging role.
  15. Spoiler-bar text is permitted as commentary not bound by the rules, allowed in any post.
  16. A law can be changed, removed and superseded by subsequent laws, unless unpermitted to by the law.
  17. Do not spell "it's" as "its" or vice versa.
  18. All posts must add a mention of the Toyota TS 020
  19. All posts must end with a tilde.
  20. No future laws may apply to past posts. (No ex post facto.)
  21. No one may edit posts in order to to fix a violation. This is itself a further violation if caught.

Good enough?

Edit: Oh, you guys got ahead in the time it took me to fix that up. Uh, up to you if you want to start again, again. Toyota TS 020 ~
