The vast majority of use of this trope on the site uses this to mean "someone keeps using a costume even when they should have moved on, " like still wearing a school outfit after graduating. The name certainly sounds like it. However, it's really about someone wearing an exaggerated version of an outfit. That... seems utterly unrelated to the name, and many, many examples (probably because the name is so non-indicative). It either needs a rename, a split, or the description changed. This IP discussion was about it
Io vs JupiterHuh, I would've sworn that "keeping an outfit even after the original reason for wearing it is long gone" (eg, someone in their 20s still wearing their high school uniform) was the definition at one point, though you're right, it's not now. The history is blank (except for a null edit I made to see if I could get it to magically reappear), so we can't check to see if/when it was actually changed. That said, there are definitely examples of both definitions listed on the page... I think. The actual trope-as-defined-on-the-page is rather vague.
A Wizard boySplit this, I'd say. And hit whoever named/redefined this with a wrench.
Anime-tedAgreeing with the split, taking the "exaggerated costume" theme to its own trope with a new name.

A Wizard boySandbox.Costume Inertia for the trope that will take this trope's name. I am not sure what the current trope should be named.
... Costume Exaggeration? Exaggerated Costume? EDIT: Spruced up the sandbox some.

Redefining and moving the current trope has 7 supports and no opposes.
A Wizard boy...which is why we are bumping for votes, as 7's nowhere near enough.
YKTTW made for Costume Exaggeration http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/discussion.php?id=buhgfk6xk4wuaqb8bt1l5zgl

Looks like we can call this... 12 votes for, 0 against and it's been over a month.

A Wizard boy13 votes is a bit too little. Let's go with 15 votes, shall we?
With Mod Hat OnWe've got 15; calling it for the proposed solution.

Since we seem to already have a description for the other trope, let's come up with names for the current trope.

Can we simply swap the descriptions now and launch the YKTTW when it comes to consensus on a name, and close up this thread?
Costume Pandering, then?
Io vs JupiterCostume Exaggeration seems like the most straightforward title to me.
I like that as well, though it may sound like it's about things like Scary Impractical Armor.
Depending on the example, it might be. The image for Scary Impractical Armor really would be an example of Costume Exaggeration, really.
A Wizard boyAs a note, Sandbox.Costume Inertia is going to have the name Costume Inertia, as per the Single Proposition crowner. We are picking the name for the trope currently on Costume Inertia, and for that I am going to make an Alt Names crowner.
A Wizard boyVotes bump!
The picture of Sakura in her schoolgirl outfit... where should that go? It does technically fit both (since it's an exaggerated schoolgirl outfit), and an excellent example of Inertia, but there's no way of knowing that she's in her twenties without the caption.
