Todd in the Shadows has left Channel Awesome. I'd pay more attention but AC/DC are on.

And you have been Thunderstruck! tongue

Actually, Film Brain seems to be doing Bad Movie Beatdowns exclusively on You Tube, for some reason.

Yeah you can tell in how the thumbnail of the BMM vids on You Tube have images of when he was younger versus the Projector vids where he's more obviously older looking.

To be honest I really didnt enjoy Boldly flee. The tone was very inconsistent, wanting to be serious and emotional, but it was so overall too dumb and corny, for that to be effective. It was just pretty cringey really. Hearing all this backstage stuff kinda makes it worse

The anniversary specials have not aged well at all really. To Boldly Flee surprises me because apparently altogether it's nearly 3 hours long or so. That's just...damn.

What about Demo Reel, did that go as badly, too? It did seem the production values went up from that at least.

Since To Boldly Flee came out, one cast member committed suicide, 2 changed genders, most left the company, Nostalgia Critic returned 3.5 months after it ran online, and the government is still trying to limited creators' rights (and pretty much succeeded with Net Neutrality now gone).

Yeah. They have not aged well.

It's not called "changing genders", that's a really bad stereotype. They came out as trans and transitioned to match their gender. I really don't see how that adds to anything other than to signify how much has changed since 2012.

"Most left the company" So do a lot of people.

I mean, that was almost 6 years ago. Plenty of actors change studios or work in that time. Shows start, play and end in that time. You make it sound that because they were making internet videos there were expected to commit for life to a website or something.

[up][up]

Colin Mochrie's daughter Kinley, she hadn't come out when she was on Channel Awesome. She did this show where she played like two personalities of herself who talked about the good and the bad of different movies, I forgot what it was called. She also had a kind of big role in some of the anniversary movies.

They'd brought it up a few times in the anniversary films, I think.

I just find it surprising that NC, despite being a web show like the others, was able to last for over 10 years now. For no one being forced to a life of working for one website, Doug and Rob are sure making a living off of doing just that.

Eh, impression I got is that Rob is behind the scenes somewhat abrasive(not really different from how he is on the screen) while Doug is somewhat of a manchild in that they seem to want to pretend there is no problem.

Either way, I do think people should stop idolizing entertainers and stop seeing them as role models because they are just people tongue As long they aren't criminal, imposing your values on other people is what I gave up doing long time ago. Yer are just gonna get disappointed and heartbroken if you assume your friends or authors of work you like share your values.

Like, its ok to stop watching work because you don't like creator's values, but I feel like I've seen a lot of people who love to follow up on internet drama. Its not really much different from people who follow irl celebrity scandals and gossip magazines.

That said, my attempt to emotionally distance myself to avoid getting depressed is failing :P Because this is fricking depressing. Like, you kinda hope they would wise up eventually and apologize, but as long people can keep sticking their head into the sand, they will most likely do that.

I do kind of wonder why rest of long running producers haven't bothered to leave the site yet. I mean, since Linkara left, you'd think all of them would leave since he was the most optimistic of bunch

Anyway, pretty sure Channel Awesome has bad enough rep that eventually all of producers feel like its better to not be affiliated with them and they are doing nothing to improve their pr. And now I'm trying to figure out methods to feel better about people when I feel like currently that it just keeps showing that people can be really horrible and I can't figure out way to avoid getting depressed about it(I can confirm that editing same post multiple times in rambling fashion isn't helping)

Three groups of people currently depressing me: CA's awful management, people on different social media sites trying to watch the car crash and people who refuse to admit that problem exists and there have been people hurt by things.

^^Its not really surprising though, people are often nice and jerkish to different people in different situation. That kind of thing makes it hard to trust in people(and for me to stop my depression mood)

I'm going to channel my inner armchair psychiatrist for a bit. I can't help but wonder if a lot of these problems are due to Doug Walker's self-admitted self-esteem issues. If he does have low self-esteem, maybe that's why he hasn't been more assertive when it comes to dealing with these problems. He'd rather pretend nothing is happening than become confrontational. Hence why he's letting assholes walk all over him, driving away the people who aren't assholes in his life.

I stopped following CA when Nostalgia Critic turned into Films So Current I Can't Use The Clips Yet Critic.

I remember CA having a ton of problems back then, years ago, because it's geared to promote the top producers like Nostalgia Critic or Linkara at the expense of everybody else, who only get pulled for massive crossovers to play butt monkeys for the top guys.

Although if Linkara left, the top producers aren't having jolly good time either, it seems.
