Name is overly broad, description is overly tiny, and the trope isn't thriving.

The trope is apparently about a character who cannot feel some emotions finally being able to right before they die?

I think I'd want a good suggestion I believe will help with the lack of use before agreeing with a rename.

Well, I guessed what the trope was upon hearing the title. It's over two years old, so it does seem to be underperforming despite that.

I think the name and description are fine, and the wick/example ratio does not look bad to me.

Sixteen wicks for a two-year old, not that uncommon trope, most of which are drawn from the same source works? I'd call that pretty unhealthy. The three-line description certainly can't be helping.

The name also fails the Guess The Trope test for me, although I know anecdotal evidence is never much use.

Emotionless Girl characters that die are uncommon, and the more general emotionless characters aren't that frequently feeling emotions when they die. It may not be the name that makes this trope poorly used.

I guessed the trope from the title, at least.

Well, I also did, but nrjxll is right, anecdotal evidence isn't strong evidence.

That said, I do not think there is much more than some crosswicking and adding redirects that we can do there.

Well, for one, we can treat it as a sister or sub trope to I'm Cold... So Cold.... The Barbossa example (and very few others) should be on this trope. The indexes of Last Words and Alice and Bob could be shared as well. From Emotionless Girl, the Emotion Tropes index should contain this one.

I see a lot of work that should be done, that wasn't when this trope was in ykttw. A rename ignores those problems, and we should fix them before relying on a rename to "solve everything".

Definitely sub trope of First Time Feeling.

Yeah, I didn't get this one initially either, but then based on the lack of examples, maybe I just haven't run into it enough.

I think the problem is that it looks like a Snow Clone of Death Equals Redemption, which I guess it's similar to, but that's already a play on Redemption Equals Death. Something more like Emotion Upon Death might be better.

I guessed the trope based on the name, but I agree it could be better. There's a couple of things I think could be clarified about this trope. I feel the description implies it applies to characters who've never felt emotion, excluding those who lost the ability to feel during their lives (mostly due to the phrase "finally learn how to feel"). Is this right? Also, does the trope still count if the one who dies comes back to life, or if the ghost of someone emotionless has emotion?

[up]I think the irony of someone feeling for the first time ever right before dying would be less potent if they used to be able to feel before, so a case could be made for exclusion here.

Huh.. I got the trope from the name.

The description could use some work though.

[up][up][up] & [up][up] Then where would those examples go? We don't have a trope for that.

Bump. Should we have a crowner on whether to rename this?

I feel the name is fine, but the trope itself has a weak description and it isn't included in related trope definitions.

As for a name, how about "Epiphany by Death"?

That has to do with sudden realizations. Someone seeing The Reveal before getting killed would count.
