That's pretty good, provided those first two panels resize well.
That's good; you can lose the copyright fine print at the right edge.
I thought we weren't supposed to crop out copyright information?
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableSince we're only using a part of the strip, it's not necessary to keep it on there, especially if we link the strip in the examples.
Check out my fanfiction!
I'd avoid linking the full strip in the caption; if it's not already on the page, it can be put into the example list. Something simple like "...whoops." or "Well, this is awkward." would suffice, and it doesn't really need a caption to get the point across.
I'll add it to the examples now.
Bump; any other thoughts?
I was thinking of using the Futurama example. [1]◊ This shows Zoidberg getting both gifts. Not sure how well that illustrates (I could try getting a screenshot from the episode later to see if that works.)

Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.8 is much better.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableThe Futurama one doesn't appear to show the trope at all.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Agreed...the point of the plot is the mutual self-defeat.
Okay. 8 is fine. I didn't realize that it wasn't the entire cartoon, so it's good.

Cool, thanks. Caption or no?
"Ummmm. Oooops?"
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it."The gift that keeps on taking."

I don't think it makes any sense. How does the gift "keep on taking"? What's it taking in the first place?
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Her hair and his pocket watch.

Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.I still don't see how that's something being taken. The point of the trope is that the pair of gifts is only unfortunate because of what the givers did to get them.

Finally found one of the other comics I thought of before: http://joshreads.com/?p=870
