Picture Pastiche is an awful name for that. I support a merge, but not really any other action.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHow is The V-J Day Kiss a work of art being imitated rather than a famous scene from real life?
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableThe picture is a work. I don't see how it makes a difference whether the "source work" is a picture, painting, comic book scene, statue, or other kind of work.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I support a merge. I don't see a significant difference.
Now, usually I would allow for examples on the supertrope that don't fit under any of the subtropes, but in this case, if it isn't a subtrope, it's not really a popular object of imitation, is it?
Check out my fanfiction!I support merging them as well. And I also support allowing examples on the supertrope that don't fit in any of the subtropes, essentially using the supertrope as a catchnet to identify new ones or ones that we've missed so far. When a particular work gets enough distinct examples (ten or a dozen or 20 — number to be decided later), it's a trope in its own right.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Makes sense. I'll support it.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableThat is 6 votes in support now.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMost of the examples on Picture Pastiche aren't really examples. They're just citing a famous image and saying in effect that they've Seen It A Million Times.
Make it seven in support.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Assuming that all the votes here are for merging Picture Pastiche into Art Imitates Art. Confirmation?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI support the merge, too, but I want to ask about the image. I think the one on Picture Pitische or whatever is better than the one on Art Imitates Art, so can we keep that after the merge? I am assuming we're keeping the AIA name since it has more wicks.
I would leave the image decision to Image Pickin'.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanConfirmation from me at least, though I support leaving a redirect from Picture Pastiche regardless of the few inbounds.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. It's not really a bad name either.
Check out my fanfiction!I agree. Let's have the main page at Art Imitates Art, a redirect from Picture Pastiche, and an Image Pickin thread to decide on the image.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!OK, did this merger and tagging. Apparently, Art Imitates Art didn't need any cleaning far as I can see.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI agree.
But while we're here, let's take a quick look at the Stock Poses index. In my opinion, this should either contain all of the subtropes of Art Imitates Art, or none of them. Currently it appears to have some but not all.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Why?
Check out my fanfiction!Yeah, Stock Poses and Art Imitates Art may sometimes overlap, but not always - unless you consider Mona Lisa Smile a Stock Pose.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSubtropes currently in Stock Poses are checked.
✔ Thinker Pose
✘ Mona Lisa Smile
✔ American Gothic Couple
✔ "Last Supper" Steal
✘ "Nighthawks" Shot
✘ The Scream
✘ Sistine Steal
Wikipedia "check mark" and "x mark". You can find them in Microsoft Word symbols or any Unicode database as well.

Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.Where do you get those nifty checkmarks and Xs?
By copying them?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOh! Those are characters, not images. *fail*
Okay, we're having a bunch of duplicated tropes here.
Art Imitates Art is about how certain artistic poses or scenes have become so symbolic that they are used often in popular works as references or parody. Many of these have their own page as subtropes, such as Abbey Road Crossing, "Last Supper" Steal, and Pietà Plagiarism. Basically, the page enumerates a few of the subtropes and then gives a few examples that don't belong in a subtrope (although arguably, any scene iconic enough to have its well-known references should have a subtrope page for it).
The first problem: numerous examples on Art Imitates Art actually belong on the subtropes, and are duplicated on the parent.
Second problem: Picture Pastiche is the exact same thing, and also enumerates a few known subtropes and gives more examples of the same. Note that a number of these scenes are also on the Stock Poses index, although they shouldn't be: a stock pose like Death Glare or Ready for Lovemaking is not the same as a stock scene such as The V-J Day Kiss.
My suggestion: merge Picture Pastiche into Art Imitates Art and use that page as the index for relevant subtropes.
