I was expecting this thread to be about genres like stoner rock and stoner metal. Which I'd imagine would still fit because a lot of it is stuff like Kyuss with downtuned guitars doing slow to midtempo riffs.
Trip hop in general is also good for this. Just put on some Massive Attack or just about anything from the Ninja Tune label and enjoy.
I do not partake in recreational drug use, but according to my stoner friends my music taste is pretty druggy. There are various reasons for this, not the least being that I tend to make strong associations between sounds, images and textures in a way that most people do not seem to. I also have a fascination with dream-states that leads me to avidly seek out surreal media of various forms.
I will admit that my tastes lean toward the harder edge of the psychedelic experience, having built up a pronounced taste for the bizarre over the years, but I guarantee that if you give these a fair shake and really listen, you will at least get something out of them. Plus, I am still a sucker for a good pop hook in the right context.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Puscifer, a side project of Maynard James Keenan from Tool would make pretty good stoner music, I'd imagine.
tripping to Throbbing Gristle
Why would you do that to yourself?
Anyways, some space rock like Ozric Tentacles and Hawkwind would be good.

If you don't like a single Frank Ocean song, you have no soul.Same friend who gave the Radiohead suggestion I mentioned before says that listening to The Smiths while stoned will "blow your f><king mind."
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Heathen Earth is like stepping foot on another planet for the first time: Exhilarating in its alienness. Outside of maybe AMM and the earliest works of Cabaret Voltaire, there is nothing like it. It is the pit of the psychedelic experience and that is valuable.

Results may vary, but from my experience never listen to Tool stoned. Ye gods, Faaip De Oiad is a nightmare.
On a happier side, Sigur Ros and Ayreon are fantastic.
"No will to break."I managed to scare the living daylights out of two of my friends while they were stoned by playing, of all things, The Beta Band's "Dr. Baker":
Eh, weed does strange things to sound perception.
Certainly makes Chouder and Adventure Time a blast.
A particular favorite is Amazing Flight.
"No will to break."
Tonight I'm getting really high with some good stuff (it's legal where I live), and I want to enjoy some good music that is best appreciated while stoned. I've tried Pink Floyd once like that, it was like time was suspended, it was brilliant, I want more of that.
Any recommendations?
