A quick but related matter: might it be the place to add the related, and so far seemingly un-discussed way in which works depicting the War in Europe - both Fronts - almost always show the enemy as the Germans and nobody else? For instance, when was the last time you see the heroes fighting Romanian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Slovakian, Spanish, Vichy French, Finnish, Italian, or Croatian troops? Usually its always the Wehrmacht
This is has lasted right from WWII - as the Germans simultaneously ignored their allies' contributions and blamed them for what they got wrong, whilst the Allies preferred people to think they'd only fought the supposedly tougher German units.
