Gatchaman Crowds

I doubt it will be subbed until someone rips the B Ds, but even in low quality without subs, it was still great. Missed a few things because my grasp of Japanese isn't the best, though.

Saw the episode...Gatcha.

I have to say, it felt really refreshing to finally see what happened. I just love how incomprehensible Hajime is. Seeing that extra footage that didn't actually do much more than confirm that Hajime did indeed take Katze inside her made that last scene feel a lot more natural. With this I feel as if the series finally had it's closure for real now. It was fun, it was brilliant, it was artsy, it was incomprehensible, it's very much Gatchaman Crowds.

Is it wrong I'm kinda not looking forward to S2 anymore, I feel they'll ruin it or something

Episode 12.5. In which Hajime is awesome.

I'm not sure whether Hajime or Rui has the best happy face.

I think the most striking image of Hajime is lying and resting when Sugane thinks something is off about her. It's far more contrasting to her usual self than being angry.

Knowing what's going to happen, she seems worried that what she's got planned is going to change her. And honestly, I think that works better knowing it beforehand.

There's also something striking about Hajime walking in a deserted building with tons of people heading her way. All alone, happy, and never alone.

She found him.

Not sure about whether to laugh or feel sympathy for her when she's stumbling and rolling around in apparent pain in that kind of ridiculous way, but her being her, it's just fine. I'm sure there's a different interpretation as well.

Trapping him inside her will show him just how much of a force of nature her personality is, up close and personal. Not gonna do wonders for her privacy, but I kinda doubt she cares.

I kinda like how Sugane hugs her and she's trying to protest about it. There are still some things she doesn't have the power to deal with.

I don't find her incomprehensible. I find her sensible.

And I think the episode wasn't as much of a closure for the season (that was the other episode). This was a closure for Hajime.

Man. That was weird.

Hajime absorbing Katze into her begin like that was pretty crazy. Also, I can't remember if the original TV airing of episode 12 gave any indication that Ode was still alive.

Well that's that. Still has almost nothing to do with the original series beyond the name and the hen shin phrase, but it was fun.

It was ambiguous about his death. It showed him collapsing, but not what happened after. Neither mentioned as dead nor alive.

Well, so much for that. We know he's still alive now.

It's kinda interesting about the whole In Name Only thing.

I remember reading a post somewhere that said Crowds wasn't going to have a sequel because the live-action Gatchaman movie did so poorly. I checked the release dates and I realized Crowds was in all likelihood an attempt to cash-in on the live action movie.

I was definitely shocked when Crowds S2 was announced. The In Name Only cash-in somehow became a More Popular Spin-Off. Amazing.

As for episode 12, Director's Cut...Well, damn. I was hoping the MESS would do something, but I guess they really were a Starter Villain. I'm still not exactly sure what was going on with Katze's invisibility, though I guess it was symbolic. That said, Hajime sealing Katze in herself was...creepy as hell. And she broadcasted it over the internet. Wow.

It's nice to see that Everyone Lives, though what were OD and Utsusu putting flowers down for? I don't think anyone died, but it's been awhile. Also, Not!Hajime came back.

With lots of property damage, people do die. Which is pretty much never acknowledged in anime.

Did the Mess have something to do with Hajime sealing Katze? Maybe they gave her the idea, since that was kinda their thing.

I really have no idea how you do a second season of this however.

Well the one scene where the reporters interview the president on CROWDS being misused might foreshadow the main conflict of the second season.

I liked that scene, but it's hard build a main conflict out of it. I liked that they showed that there were some downsides or that it won't perfect sailing at least. It's the sort of think that keeps the inherent optimist from feeling to fake.

I liked that Rui is now a Gatchaman. I wonder if he gets a bigger role? There wasn't a whole lot you could do with the characters of most of the cast.

Bigger role? Bigger than Hajime?

Given that Crowds is kind of a metaphor for the internet, what is worse than an Internet troll? Someone who actually hurts people in real life?

I do have this vague idea of the trapped Katze doing something self-sacrificially heroic in order to escape Hajime and troll everyone by acting contrary to their expectations.

I kinda exspect the second season to be about people abusing the CROWDS and while Berg will try to break Hajime through rubbing all the ill her desicions caused into her face.

S2 episode 0 is out today on Hulu. It's excellent.

Is it still all the same characters?

How was the first season? I've heard good things about it but...

Same cast as S1 plus new aliens, a new villain faction, and a new rookie member of the G-team who gets partnered with Hajime on missions.

It was good. It's not really what it first appears to be, and I guess it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I'd definitely recommend checking it out until at least the end of episode 5. Also, it had nothing to do with the original Gatchaman at all outside of a few references and saving the world from aliens.

It's different from what one could expect coming in. If you want a traditional sentai type story don't bother. Crowds is really just a quirky commentary on social networks. But if that dosen't scare you off, give it a try.

I need to watch the extended parts of the first seasons last episode.

It's typically labelled as "DC Embrace" (i.e., Director's Cut), in case you're having difficulty finding it.

well episode 0 looks nice and crazy. So yeah hyped for this new season.
