Actually Star Trek could provide examples, as the background people on the bridge often are the same actors. So given time I could assemble something. (Which I will attempt... after sleep time).

Sorry, yes, I had them reversed.
I was about to ask what function Recurring Extra has beyond what a Living Prop has, but then I realized that this is an Image Picking thread. I will note to Ghilz that one or both of us might bring this up in TRS later if you're unconvinced.
One suggestion is to take the idea of the current image and expand it: show stills from multiple episodes with that one extra in the background.
