Can we get a version of the second without the frame/names? That'd be best, I think.
The final image gives me a hotlinking error.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Doubtful; it's one of many, many such character shots shown immediately before and after commercial breaks, which always have the frame and name of the character being depicted.

Moon◊You can always shove a URL into GIS to see the image instead of the hotlinking thing.
Anyway, shame about the frame in that second one. I also like the fourth one, but the panda is a bit small and hard to see when shrunk down - and the same thing for the first. And I guess now that I think about it, the panda's pretty tiny in the second one anyway, so with all that said, I like the third one the most.
The third is the best of those.
I'm sorry but I really don't like any of those. The focus is more on the girl, not the panda, which is what the trope is about.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."The third, with it's two contrasting panels, is the best of the suggestions but not as good as the current with it's communications between the person and pet just by the pet's facial expressions.
How about this◊?
I like either that one, or the third of OP. Though preferably just the lower half. Neither is very strong, but both work. The other suggestions aren't too bad either.
Check out my fanfiction!Bump; any other thoughts?
Actually, upon further inspection, I think just the second panel of 3 is the best.

Bump for votes.
I hit the snooze to give more time for votes.
If the May/panda #3 ends up winning, are we going to use both panels or just one?
Both. Otherwise, it's a little too little distinct.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHow's that going to look at wiki size? That's my major concern.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanGood, better than I was afraid it would. Could the bottom panel possibly be cropped tighter on them in the original to make them a little bigger?

Definite improvement on the second panel...the first was fine at its smaller size, so combine them and I'd say it's the perfect combo.

The current image isn't bad, but I'm not enamored with it and it does hang down past the examples.
How about something with May Chang from Full Metal Alchemist?
Panda kung fu◊
Ditto!◊
2 panels◊
Needs to be smaller, but it works well◊
