I just hope they give us a PC version, at least. Considering that all the XBONE games were already running off P Cs anyway, the only reason we couldn't get one is if Microsoft runs off of pure spite.

...Oh. Wait. They do.

Considering they've gotten that much down in 2 months (3 character designs, 2 playable characters, a Combo system, a dynamic stage with a combo-dependant damage system), I'd say they could get a damn fine version of the game out on time. Don't forget that they're pretty much banking on DLC in the first place, and that even if the game sucks they have plans to work on it after the initial release to make it better.

[up][up] I somehow doubt that fighting games are popular on the PC.

But that's a story for another time.

[up] We've had two versions of Street Fighter 4, Street Fighter X Tekken, and we'll soon get Skullgirls and MK 9. What's their excuse?

That doesn't say anything about how well they sell though.

Big name fighting games tend to focus on consoles but indie fighters tend to at least start on the PC, especially those from Japan. Remember Melty Blood and everything it spawned?

There's actually a decently sized group of PC fighting game fans. It surprised me too.

Some freaks of nature even enjoy playing them with a keyboard.

One of the most comprehensive, customizable and flexable fighting games ever is on the PC.

And that's very nice, but again, it doesn't say anything about how well a mainstream fighting game sells on the PC. MUGEN is extremely niche.

I get that there are fighting games designed for the PC. I understand that there is a well-defined market for ports. But what no one is saying is why developers should bother porting a fighting game to PC. Listing a bunch of PC fighters and telling me that some people enjoy them doesn't make me think that a Killer Instinct PC port will be a great success. It's just a reaction to my incredulity.

Well, at this point anything is better than the Xbox One. Also, it'll give PC players a chance to experience a genre that is really frigging rare on the PC.

And on the whole free-to-play bit, that was apparently a bit of a marketing gaffe (much like all the others regarding the Xbone): the demo is the part that will have Jago only (and surprisingly, all of the modes), and there will be both character packs and the ability to buy the full game (aka all of the characters except Jago).

[up][up] Very often the games are developed on P Cs or something approximating P Cs in the first place. I have yet to see anyone claiming that the Dualshock or arcade stick is the best animation etc. interface tool ever.

And some don't mind going without an Arcade Stick. It's often useful, but not great for everyone.

Also, I don't expect it for the PC either. Outside of some kind of illegally done stuff, anyway.

Microsoft owns Rare. And it's a specific exclusive for a reason. You know, to give Microsoft something to actually get anywhere in the Console Wars.

...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.

Yeah arcade sticks simply don't work for everyone. Personally I stink with them to where I'd prefer using a 360 d-pad over it. Seriously I'm just useless with an arcade stick.

I was trying to illustrate the fact that P Cs are still the dominant game development platform and even cosole dev kits that aren't PC based use PC-like interfaces. That also applies for fighting games. This means that at some point in their development all console exclusive and even arcade exclusive fighting games would be able to run on a PC.

Well yeah. Consoles are just over specialized computers designed to play games (and steal souls, as of this generation). There's never been a question of what developers use to make games or that any console games could be run on P Cs via emulators or whatever.

As much as I loved playing the Game Boy port of the first Killer Instinct (Which is still a ton of fun today) when I was a kid and enjoy the SNES version every now and again, I can't see myself playing the XBOX One version of Killer Instinct.

Plus after watching the gameplay, I'm really not all that impressed, though it may be nostalgia bias.

Hey all. This Stranger never grew up with KI, but after watching videos of the classic games and the 2013 game, he became a fan.

What do you guys think of the character designs? I like the part when the Instinct Mode meter is full, Jago's tattoos and Sabrewulf's eyes lit up. (Not sure if Glacius has anything lit up for his)

The only real thing I'm miffed about regarding KI 3 is that it's Xbone exclusive.

So, counter-breakers. Any thoughts?

MORE PARTICLE EFFECTS

MORE C C C COMBO BREAKERS (Which got old very quickly)

That was painful to watch.

Like literally, it was too busy. And combo breakers were way too frequent and way too powerful.

Maximilian has some more KI 2013 footage against a dev, with some instances of Shadow Breakers (and their being countered) and the consequences of mistiming a counter breaker.
