One of most expected show is here! Interesting premise and great potencial (or that what I heard)! Though Personaly aside of some voices I am quite unfazed and I doubt it will change it nearest two or three episodes due reading few chapters of manga.

I have lot of free time, so I guess I will bear with it. In meantime you can worship it or whatever.

I really don't like how the handled the explanation in the credits, nor how they had several gratuitous panty shots in the first few seconds.

But I've read the manga and know I'll enjoy it, so I'll bear with it.

I found it a bit lols how much of a troll the main character was to his sis at the beginning.

Maybe it's just the incredibly low quality of the stream, but it looks like much of the character animation was CG, which would be incredibly disappointing.

On the other hand, it was nice to see a reference to 'Princess' class, which wasn't mentioned in the LN at this point. And I don't recall that scene with Origami at the end of the episode, either.

Gonna have to wait for a higher-quality stream at this point to make a real judgement.

Yeah. The first ep won't air for real until later this week. Subs are available at the usual places.

[up] Oh dear, Savoie, that's not How To Win Friends And Influence People.

And granted, the eccentricities of the cast aren't really apparent in the first episode beyond (very) broad brush strokes. The miserable quality of the video we have doesn't allow much comment on the animation, but there's no reason to believe that it will be spectacular, as I've noted above. The soundtrack probably won't rise above mediocre, though a few tracks might be memorable. I do recall liking the main heroine's voice actress, but I'm not a native speaker, so I have no comment as to acting ability.

That said, I don't think anybody's expecting this to be Sophisticated Japanese Visual Pictography For Sophisticated People Like Yourself. The premise has been paraphrased, after all, as 'Prevent the Apocalypse by giving the Harbinger of the Apocalypse a good (kissing).'

...I need to stop watching things because I hear they're terrible

So, I'd personally put this at bad, but not particularly terrible (It's important to note that I have watched (part of) Kingdom)

I think the main issue is that the main guy has lousy voice acting. He's supposed to be carrying the show, but is utterly incapable of it. The rest of the voice acting is fairly hit or miss, with the purple girl and Rei clone particularly standing out as bad

The fight scene was amazingly poorly done. Given that there's some obvious budget here, there's no excuse for it to be that lifeless. Even with a lesser budget, there's no excuse

The ending exposition bit is kind of an amusing concept, but should have stayed as a concept; it got old about five seconds in

That said, it did have some parts I genuinely enjoyed. Specifically, most of what happened onboard the airship. Reine and the commander were actually fairly funny. Nowhere near enough to make me want to watch the second episode, but still

I liked it. I felt like it did a fairly good job of going from "wacky everyday" -> "crisis" -> "okay what my life makes no sense now." The narrative structure itself seemed to fit the change of subject matter — the beginning was slower-paced, with more explicit use of scene transitions. Then, after the spacequake events, there was a sense that things became purposefully disjointed, losing the clearer sense of space and time, which conveyed how out-of-depth he felt more than words would have. I'm a sucker for that kind of Show, Don't Tell in structure.

Or they could just be bad screenwriters. Who knows! Only time will tell.

My perspective on media has warped into a strange combination of "eccentric literature professor" and "late-stage TV Tropes Will Ruin Your Life," though, so I'm no basis for recommendation. Reading too much into things is half the fun!

While I kind of want to gush about this just to annoy people who don't like it, I find it kind of bland, but with high points. The premise almost made me not want to give it a try, and the way they executed it so far didn't help.

That trio of girls in the beginning was one of the lamer attempts of establishing the protagonist as a loser. Though I kind of want to see more things she can't stand... She kind of went from judgemental to intolerant to absurd.

And then they introduced that one guy as someone who's more of a loser by having him claim to date a fictional character. I was going to say that that girlfriend app girl looked like Kotori, but...

The battle impressed me about as much as roughly 90% of fight scenes in anime. That is, not at all. Wasn't particularly bad, but kind of lazy at times.

I think complaining that the heroine wasn't introduced properly is just impatience, as well as calling characters flat before they had a chance to evolve or show much of depth.

I like Reine. She's so calming.

The two top ones are just jokes, though. Kotori managed to be actually likeable up till then, though it was obvious she was more than she let on. The first few scenes did manage to establish her as a better character than the usual annoying little sister, such as how he successfully trolled her. Maybe.

Hggg? Hrvrg? HBLLL!

I dunno.

This seems very derivative. But at the same time I wouldn't actually call it bad. Assuming that absurd fanservice at the beginning was just to hook a certain demographic in, the rest of it was executed pretty well.

Have these guys been watching Fate Stay Night recently or something? They were probably watching NGE too.

My first impression was that it was bad, but I should know better than to be scared off by a little (well, I say a little) fanservice. I don't see it being more than a 6/10, but it's watchable.

There is this certain over-the-topness to the execution that allays my fears that the show takes itself too seriously.

I at least want to see how the date with the Heroic Earth Spirit goes, so I'll give it a little longer.

Well if it doesn't go anywhere, what I've seen of the plot, characters and even antics seems subpar.

Given that, this may be a "drop and pick up later if anything changes" series.

*shrug*

I don't think anyone was arguing your point. I didn't dislike the manga, but even I have to admit that was one of the worst opening episodes I've ever seen.

Personally, with my lack of stuff to watch this season, I'm gonna sit it out and, if it doesn't improve, rip the series a new one on my blog's review column, but I can't speak for anyone else.

I'll be honest, if I didn't know what this series was about and read this thread (with my posts absent, of course), I would have disregard your opinion, even if everyone else were to agree with you, because you felt the need to repeat it twice (I'd understand if it was during an argument or something, but that clearly wasn't). Such actions make me feel like someone's shoving their opinion down my throat and toss me into Critical Backlash mode.
