Just a Face and a Caption: Implausible Hair Color

Firstly, the characters all look just as white as they do Asian. The only one indicative of the trope is the little girl in the forefront, who has red hair but is Japanese. However, her hair is a dark, relatively realistic shade of red, more like an auburn. Without the caption saying they're Japanese I wouldn't have seen anything wrong.

There are so many blondes in Japanese settings in anime, couldn't we just find one of those? Or as the description mentions, a blond-haired black person would work.

A blonde black is something I would consider here.

Pretty much JAFAAC. It does show the implausible hair colour, but fails to show why it's implausible, which is kind of important to understand the trope.

I wouldn't call the current a redhead. I think it looks like she has brown hair. What about another anime image◊?

The link is working for me. Here's another image of her◊ but in the first one she has a character with normal hair next to her so I think it makes a good contrast.

It usually works for the person who found the image first, since it's already cached.

But is there someone who looks naturally blonde? All I can think of there is "bleach job".

Exactly. The image looks more like a Ganguro Girl, which invokes bleaching, not natural blonde.

@Heap, I wouldn't call that uncommon enough to fit.

What about the blonde Mongol girl◊ from the Real Life section on the page?

The first might work, since they're blatantly wearing Japanese uniforms.

Unnatural hair colors are a different trope entirely.

I think #10 is the best one so far.

In #11, the first looks more like a transfer student, plus the others don't have real colours anyway, the second doesn't say enough about nationality, and the latter two have been explained.

Okay, implausible but not unnatural. Hopefully this comes through. Redhead in Kimono◊. I don't know if the fact that it's off her shoulders is a problem.

That one works. And no, I don't think it's a problem. I don't see why it would be.

That's the clearest of the drawn pics, but I prefer the blonde Asian girl.

She looks less Asian than either of the two other I like.

Honestly, from the eyes, I wouldn't know for certain that she was Asian without another reference.

I like 16 best so far, followed by 10.

I honestly would think the girl in 10 was just white if you didn't tell she wasn't.

The Mongol girl? I wanted to say that she looks white too but it sounds bad to imply that Asians are identifiable only by their black hair. Regardless of how white or Asian she looks I do think it would be better to have an example from fiction.
