According to these links, Disney is shuttering it's traditional animation studios once again due to an apparent lack of profit.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2013/mar/07/disney-hand-drawn-animation http://laughingsquid.com/disney-ditches-hand-drawn-animation/ http://www.firstshowing.net/2013/disney-not-developing-any-hand-drawn-animated-films-right-now/

I say apparently because of conflicting reports. This link:

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/03/06/rumours-of-hand-drawn-animations-demise-at-disney-have-been-slightly-exagerrated/

says that the news is being exaggerated, and that they're not so much getting rid of hand drawn animation all together as they are redeveloping their methods. The academy award winning short "Paperman" may be a sign of things to come in terms of Disney animation might look like in the future.

I know this is Serious Business to some people, but it really shouldn't be. Get over it.

One of them's even on the first page still. You could've looked. Or, I dunno, done a forum search for "hand-drawn" or something.

IIRC, it's basic forum etiquette in most forums (not just here) to make sure you're not posting duplicate threads. No need to hate on us.

Well no matter really, nothing wrong with reminding people that there are threads available. Still, next time a search is good.
