This thread is for questions regarding creating or cutting pages in Franchise/ namespace and Franchise Index.
As a reminder, being a Series Franchise doesn't mean a Work can have a Franchise/ page. For that it needs existing (not Red Link) and connected (official releases for the same trademark) Work pages in 3 different Mediums, not 3 pages for the same property in general.
If it doesn't meet those criteria, the section about related releases can be on page of the first installment.
For instance, Video Games. Take a look at this page. I guarantee that we don't even have that many listed in the Franchise namespace.
Also, I set up Franchise pages for Duke Nukem, Deer Hunter, and Grand Theft Auto.
Wouldn't it be more appropriate to list multiple games in a Franchise page as opposed to a Video Game page?

Naturally it would need to be expanded to more than just a disambiguation.
Update to let you know I've done some more work on Sandbox.Battle Tech, sorting the examples out.
In other news, someone needs to go in and move Franchise.Pathfinder Tales to the Literature namespace, as well as streamline the example list. (Too many folders dividing the examples up doesn't look good, and is pretty clunky.)
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Some more video game series pages inappropriately moved to the Franchise/ namespace:
- Alone In The Dark (though this also has a Film/ page)
- Breath of Fire (the individual games have their own pages, but nothing else does)
- Devil May Cry
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
- Onimusha
- Wonder Boy (the individual games have their own pages; I'm not even aware of any adaptations)
- Ys
Madonna, Frank Sinatra and Frank Zappa have Franchise/ pages. Don't know what to do about those.
Wonder Momo has enough examples in different media to justify a Franchise/ page, but needs splitting. The same could be said of Alien vs. Predator, which has Film/ and VideoGame/ pages though the comics came before either.
Zatoichi mostly covers a film series, with no subpages for individual works.
Anpanman and Pumuckl—where to place these? Again, no subpages for individual works.
Transformers Film Series has its own Franchise/ page despite being medium-specific.

The Frank Sinatra, Madonna, and Frank Zappa pages all need to be moved to the Creator/ namespace, since that's basically what they are.
At this point, we may need to put a lock on creating new franchise pages without coming through this thread or YKTTW first (any ones not meeting those requirements get zapped, and the troper who did it gets warned or even banned).
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Question: If a work has an animated film, a cartoon series, and a comic book, does that count as three? Because the animated film and the cartoon series are in the same namespace so I'm wondering if that counts as one medium or two.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.If they're sharing pages, I'd say no. Three pages for three mediums in two namespaces should be enough for a multimedia work, though.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Franchise.The Sims exists.
The weird thing is that the first Sims game is already at VideoGame. The Sims 1, and VideoGame. The Sims is just a disambig for The Sims 1 and the Franchise page.
Any objection to moving the Franchise page to VideoGame. The Sims?
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Another one-medium franchise: Franchise.Arrow Verse
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Actually two-medium, but still ought to be in the Series namespace.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Fire Emblem. As far as I can tell, it's only videogames.
Fatal Frame is yet another videogame-only franchise page. Spinoff manga are listed, but none of them have their own pages.

Anyone object to changing Fire Emblem to Fire Emblem?
I can't find any one installment named just "Fire Emblem"; as far as I can tell, they have an additional name, so there won't be the usual issue of removing the franchise page.
I just moved Franchise.Fire Emblem to Fire Emblem.
Well, the site began with this show, so now let's give Buffy the Vampire Slayer the franchise treatment (because the description of the series page is a little too long.) It does have the prerequisite three namespaces, after all.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Franchise.Die Hard exists. The description mentions tie-in video games and a comic book series, but neither have pages.
Franchise.Kingsman has only three works but only two mediums Comic Book and Film.
Franchise.Independence Day has five works listed, but only two namespaces "Film" and "Literature", and the three "Literature" works all redirect to the same page.
Buffy should have Film, Series, Comicbook, Tabletop Game, and Literature as its namespaces. It should have more than enough to count as a franchise.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickHello, guys. I've moved some pages not deserving of the franchise namespace lately, but looking past this thread, numerous ones get mentioned in some post but then forgotten about.
So, I'm suggesting we follow the same structure than with the Wick Namespace Migration and the Hyphenated Titles project, by creating a page to list all those problematic franchise pages as they are found, so that someone can go back to them if the contributor can't make the move immediately.
The way I see it, the proper namespace they need to be moved too can be specified (open to discussion on this thread, of course). And the text on top can of course specify that a work page unfitting for the namespace can be either moved, or its content split so that there are enough articles to deserve it. (Like I did with the Marsupilami page not long ago.)
For a start, I'm suggesting the page Sandbox.Franchise Namespace Correction be created for this project.

Does Anime/ and Manga/ count as two mediums?
I ask because we have Franchise.Fullmetal Alchemist. And the three media are Anime/, Manga/, and a Film/ stub (there was also a Visual Novel/ but I cut that because it's fan-made).
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. Also, we've got Franchise.Saw, which is odd because the first movie is on Film.Saw I anyway. Film.Saw is a redirect for the franchise page.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Do fanfics get franchise pages? Cause the Shadowchasers Yu-Gi-Oh fanfic series has one. Franchise.Shadowchasers
The Protomen enhanced my life.Only if that fanfiction has official(by the author themself) other media they created. Like an animated version of the same series of fanfics, and, say, comics. They often won't count.
Basically, many fanfictions can expand to other media, but then the fanfic itself would just be one work page, with the other media making up others. They generally won't be getting franchise pages since they're solely fanfics.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.Continuing from the ATT query, I've looked around and found no fan-animations or comics for FanFic.Shadowchasers. It's all fanfiction written by either the creator or recursive fanfictions written by other authors.

OK with M*A*S*H, but please remember that Franchise/ pages are not mere disambiguations - lots of people make that mistake.
