Souma slacks off when something doesn't have to do with cooking. He doesn't take care of his appearance, lounges around the dorm half dressed and is noted for his rather laidback old man attitude when he's just relaxing. We don't know how seriously Rindou takes her cooking or anything else really.

Edit: But seriously, I get the impression that Soma doesn't know much about his extended family so I really wouldn't be surprised if it turned out they were related. Not counting on it but won't be shocked by it, either.

I doubt she's his sister or something like that, cuz I can't see a reason why Jouichiro wouldn't tell him about her unless he was on some "she reminded me of your mother" tip. If she is related to Soma, she's probably his cousin or something.

If you could change one thing about this series, what would it be?
If Erina turns out to be nothing but a damsel needing a big strong man to save her, that. If she grows a spine then um... I'd probably want the Polar Star dorm members to be a little more important, but the current arc might be addressing that as well.
Except those two losers. Get rid of them altogether.

The pacing for one, of course that might be a consequence of this being a weekly series but god.
In terms of stuff in story?...Yea, a bit more focus on the supporting cast wouldn't hurt. I'd also tone down Erina's earlier characterization to something more in line to how she is now...well before Azami showed up.
That's....about it. I don't have any real gripe with this series at the moment.

The story's pacing could probably be better if they stop putting flashbacks almost every time someone has a match.

That's a problem with Main characters as a whole, though at least he's not a Boring Invincible Idiot Hero who never loses at all.

I actually like Souma a lot. He's probably my second or third favorite character.
But yeah, really, there isn't that much I'd change about this series. A lot of the issues I do have are things that either haven't been dealt with yet or I can understand the reasoning. Like Erina is great and she gets advertised a lot for someone that only appears sporadically but that's because there's no reason for her to be near Souma most of the time. Why would they hang out together when they don't even like each other?

, Well ya know, being the main character I would think would mean they have more screentime and importance than everyone...hence why they're the main character :V I mean I guess it'd be a problem if you don't like them, but I don't think there's anything really wrong with Soma. In fact, he's my favorite character in the series and probably one of the most enjoyable Shonen Jump protagonists I've seen in years.
See, that's my thing; despite what the advertising would tell you, Erina isn't actually all that important. She's more or less just built up as a goal for Soma to surpass. Which is fine and all, but I do kind of wish she was at least the tritagonist to Soma and Megumi.

I'm not even sure she's even that. I mean, he wants to get her to say that his food is delicious but I don't think he's ever shown any interest in her as his rival. I haven't really seen anything to indicate that he thinks she's better than him.

But seriously I don't really have anything I'd change about the series persay, just... I wish it would do more things that I couldn't think of, if that makes sense. There's nothing incompetent about it, it just kinds of falls short of excellence.

I wouldn't go that far. She appears more often than anyone but Souma and Megumi and she's appearing more often than Megumi lately.
And with Souma it's hard to say who he thinks is better than him. He does have that moment during the training camp when she finished a challenge a good fifteen minutes before he did or however long she needs to take a bath. He just kind of stopped in surprise that she did so much better than him despite his experience.

I'm not denying she doesn't show up a lot, its just not in a particularly significant way until this arc...and its her being passive as fuck at the moment. Megumi will probably take a backseat in this arc for Erina, now the latter just needs to actually be proactive....
Well that's just Soma in general, its not something really exclusive to Erina; he acknowledges people as being better than him, he just doesn't make a big deal out of it beyond just being more competition to beat. It only feels like he doesn't acknowledge Erina because unlike every other rival Soma has, they still have not had a direct confrontation face-to-face.

Eh, to each their own I guess. Its not so much I don't find it interesting, but rather it feels like its prolonging their confrontation. It wouldn't sting as much if some screentime was devoted to Erina stomping other established characters too.
Like, I don't think anyone here would have minded if she had stomped Hayama some time after the Fall Classic.
Its like, the story is trying to build up to when Erina accepts Soma's cooking, but he's had confrontations that I find arguably more interesting. I just don't want the series to prolong the inevitable, particularly because its the longest running and most important plot thread of the series at the moment.

Butthurt Eizan is quality avatar material.
Hopefully the victory flags that Soma has racked up leads to Eizan's face exploding in a chapter or two.
Erina accepting Soma's cooking will be the perfect bookend to his adventures at Tootsuki academy, so I expect that development to be withheld until the last possible moment.
Now Erina learning the truth about Soma's dad, on the other hand...
