Here's my first suggestion.◊

Yeah, the Kraken awakened beneath them. They though they were walking on land.

It's an aspidochelon, actually, but details. :P Yes.

The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeable

I like the "pig-anglerfish" one (4.7), for the following reasons:

1. It's not a literal moon (I always prefer to have images that show a trope without just parrotting the trope name, as they often lead to the trope being used only for literal instances and thus under-used).
2. It's quite obvious that despite its appearance, it is alive.
3. The idea of using a pig here is funny.

4.2 is good — you've got people reacting to what clearly would have looked like rock but isn't.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

I like 4.2 as well. It doesn't show the full size, but just the eye is enough to imply it, and the characters, while small, are still visible. It also looks like actual ground around them.

I suppose I can see it if I project the image of a pig on it... But I have to focus on it. That one also fits Turtle Island, which is a subtrope. For not being a turtle, it's better than the current there, but I wouldn't want the same example on two pages, especially family tropes.

That would be funny, but not very illustrative. And, like Septimus said, I like that it isn't using an example that reinforces taking the trope name literally.

(I like 4.2, 3, or 4 since I have a weird obsession with eyes they're better at showing that the giant face was a surprise.)

Why not just use the Death Star? It's the trope namer, after all.

Ahem, the Death Star is already up for debate on Planet Spaceship. Also, being the trope namer and being a good page image are different things.

I think we can use a land-based one for this page, and a non-turtle (like one of the Sinbad pics) for Turtle Island. That way the image shows a different interpretation than the name, to demonstrate the broadness of each trope.

Also, Turtle Island doesn't have the best pic.

There's a pic I know of a turtle that doubles as an entire city... let me see if I can dig it up.

for the anglerfish and - I guess - the Earth Colossus, for everything else. The others don't appear to have previously been disguised or mistaken for anything; they're just large creatures with things on their backs^* which might very well be a trope of its own. The reaction is important.
