Did you know that Stacy and Chelsea (Norb and Dag's younger sisters who were named after and voiced by the creators daughters) were going to get a spinoff called "Simply Sisters" (I saw it on Nick once)

Also one of my favorite Nicktoons. I think a lot of that can be put down to the voice actors—Norb and Dag were so pitch-perfect in their characterization and inflection! I'd know Richard Horvitz anywhere, but I admit to not knowing off the top of my head who voiced Norbert. But that guy is awesome. Props to that guy.

Okay I remember this show but does anyone remember the Kid Friendly episode? The one where the beavers are being menaced by some smiling evil egg shaped cowboy?

Why did that episode play so rarely? I remember it only once, only seeing part of it... and being thoroughly creeped out.

[up] Supposedly that episode was banned because of the usage of guns.

I think the real reason it was banned was because the episode was a Take That! at Nickelodeon's constant notes and orders, "Make sure everything is kid-friendly."

I'm a little confused by the ending of the Pond Scum episode.

Was Stump just getting revenge on Norb and Dagget was an innocent bystander? Was Stump also getting revenge on Dagget?

Norb kidnapped Stump but it was kinda Dagget's fault that Stump went over the waterfall.

It's definitely clear there was a misunderstanding from Stump and the other animals that what Norb was doing wasn't hos fault, that he was possessed.

It didnt really occur to me he might be trying to take revenge on Dag... even if he was, Norb was in the dam too when he sawed it over the waterfall. surprised

So, which of the two brothers did anyone think was the funniest or simply your favorite?

As a kid, i think I liked Dag more, and found is rambunctiousness funny, although looking over the series I've found myself laughing at Norb, especially at times when he's acting overdramatic ("Dag is cooler than me?! NOOOOOOooOOOOOooo....!").

I like norb and I found a cute fanfic through tvtropes all about him and treeflower. Dag is in the story too and he's pretty funny.

Remember the episode where the boys use "musk" to repel each other from their stuff?

They eventually musk the entire country.

My siblings and I were very pleased that our state of Massachusetts was a Norbert state.

We did briefly live in New York which was sadly a Dagget state.

That was "Another One Bites the Musk".

I always wondered what their musk actually smelled like.

I actually have smelled real beaver musk at zoos. They stink, but not that horrendous.

How many times did the Beavers watch a movie that wasn't horror or monster?

Dagget made a PSA film in the Ranger Dag episode

The forest animals watched a martial arts film at the beginning of "Enter The Daggett"

In "Gonna Getcha" the beaves watched a movie that started as a Goodbye Mr. Chips rip-off but became a revenge thriller.

[up] There were the occasions where they watched nature documentaries.

Some interesting info about the show from writer Micah Wright.

- Part of the reason why Nickelodeon tends to ignore this series, and why it took so long for a DVD release is because they don't own all of the show. Gunther-Wahl (who produced the series) has partial ownership.

- The reason why Season 5 was cut short is because they needed a bigger budget for the 2nd Halloween episode, Rock Opera episode, and the series finale, but Nickelodeon decided to just end the show prematurely.

Micah has always said that the finale was never made because Nick didn't want the show to say it was ending. Now he offers us an alternate explanation. Which is it?

(The story I have heard from other people is that Nick was willing to let it go, but they decided to not do it. If it was over budget concerns, which wouldn't be too much for a regular episode, then I can only wonder...)

I can't remember if Nick ever had it on Netflix back in 2012 or so, but it's been on iTunes for a decade now and it was released on DVD alongside the first wave of Nicktoons in 2011 - with Rocko, Hey Arnold, etc. To say they're ignoring it isn't quite true. Gunther-Wahl hasn't produced anything in years, and like the company Lee Gunther started at, De Patie Freleng, all their copyrights seem to be owned by other people. Nick probably doesn't want to exploit Doug too much because of Disney (they really can't), but I don't see why a company that might not even be existent anymore gets on Nick's nerves.

One last thing... I don't think the 2nd Halloween special, "The Very Loud Screams of the Night Beast," ever made it to production. There are old episode lists online mentioning the Rock Opera, the "Simply Sisters" pilot and the finale - thus we know those were meant to be produced, but didn't. Probably for budget reasons, as Micah said.

So, needless to say, Micah is kind of stretching the truth... but what can we expect from the man who claimed to be an Army Ranger?
