Unfazed Everyman. There's something inherently likable about a normal person who just shrugs their shoulders at all the weird stuff going on around them.
What a guy.
'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'I'm with topographic.
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.Is there a trope for the self-aware asshole? Because I love that guy.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatComplete Monster s are the most interesting I find,...the more Blue-and-Orange Morality, the better.

L'idylle est mort.If done right:
- Only Sane Man
- Deadpan Snarker
- Tomboy
I will always like the Badass Normal . Its the kind of character I play, given a choice.
The Comically Serious / Unfazed Everyman are fun. Blue-and-Orange Morality guys are pretty great too...
Look upon my R.O.U.S., ye mighty, and despair! What are we defining character archetype as? Things from this index? This one?
I think I'm being stupid and confusing tropes about characters with archetypes.

Doesn't really matter, whichever you want. I don't plan on making strict rules for this thread.
Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight. In that case, Jerkass Woobie.
Manipulative Bastard, Lovable Rogue, Deadpan Snarker, Stepford Smiler. All of it with a side-order of Not So Stoic. When I run across a character that combines all of those in a heroic version, I'm having a party.
If it's a woman, a main character and the book is good on top of it all, I'm building an altar to worship the author.

Complicated - because simple is simply too simple. The only one that immediately comes to mind for me (and it's a weird one) is The Voiceless or The Silent Bob.
Samus was a better character when she didn't speak. Lots of characters in video games are. Whether heroic or not, I believe the biggest badasses are the ones that don't say anything, because of the absence of embarrassing one-liners and the fact that it enables the audience to fill in the silence with whatever they think the character MIGHT say, without an actual script getting in the way. It works for all mediums, not just video games, though literature might spoil the effect if there is an internal/mental dialogue present for the silent character.
You need an adult.Wow, I really wasn't expecting this to be so popular, heh. (Yeah, I know, I'm doing some thread necromancy right now since the last post was a while ago, but...LOOK AT MY AVATAR.) Forgot to add something else I happen to like- The Paladin! I'm not sure why, but there's always been something cool to me about how despite all of the characters trying to be dark and edgy and nineties comic book-ey, that there's still a character who's the shining paragon of all that is good and such. It also probably helps that they tend to get really awesome looking armor. (See: Judgement set, World of Warcraft.)
Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.I'm a big fan of the Action Survivor and the Only Sane Man. Deadpan Snarkers can be nice too, but I find that many authors take them too far.
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...That, Hot-Blooded, and an Only Sane Man's always good.
If you wanna PM me, send it to my mrsunshinesprinkles account; this one is blorked.
I'm not entirely sure if a thread like this exists already since I'm fairly new here (the account itself anyways, I've been reading articles on here for a while), but to get to the point-Favorite archetype? I happen to be quite fond of The Black Knight, Berserker, and Necromancer myself. (Those trope titles would've redirected to their respective pages, but I'm still learning how exactly everything works.) ...Oh, and if this thread is completely pointless, feel free to delete it.
